Qiao Nuo's mind reacted in that split second. If Jin Chengyan really intended to do something, she would rather die than submit. Just because this hotel belonged to his family didn't mean he could do whatever he wanted!
Two seconds later, Jin Chengyan yanked a phone out of her trench coat pocket and tossed it into the air in a parabolic arc. With a splash, Qiao Nuo's most valuable possession fell into the bathtub.
"What are you doing?!" Qiao Nuo stared at Jin Chengyan in disbelief. How could he treat her phone like that?
Jin Chengyan withdrew his hand, crossing his arms over his chest as he stood a meter away, scrutinizing the woman before him. She looked somewhat familiar, but he couldn't recall where he had seen her before. Was she one of those paparazzi who had been tailing him for a long time?
"I don't care how you got in here. You better get out of here quickly before I call the police!" The anger that Jin Chengyan had been holding back finally erupted. He glared at Qiao Nuo coldly. Fortunately, she was a woman; if she were a man, it wouldn't just be about telling her to leave!
If she wanted to go, then let her go. Did she think he cared about her being here? Without capturing evidence or posing a threat to their capital, Qiao Nuo shot him a glare and headed toward the bathroom.
Her phone was still in the bathtub; maybe if she dried it off with a hairdryer, it would still work.
Jin Chengyan watched in confusion as Qiao Nuo headed not for the door but toward the bathroom. He saw her fish her phone out of the tub, her face displaying a hint of disgust as she wrapped it in a handkerchief.
Even at this moment, she didn't forget about the evidence she had captured!
Jin Chengyan's expression darkened as he walked over without saying a word, snatching the phone from her hands and tossing it into the toilet!
"Jin Chengyan, are you crazy?! Why did you throw my phone?!" Qiao Nuo looked at her phone pitifully lying in the toilet. She had already steeled herself to reach into the water where Jin Chengyan had just bathed; she certainly didn't have the courage to retrieve it from the toilet!
Jin Chengyan found this to be the funniest joke of the year. This woman actually said he was crazy?
“Unreasonable troublemaker.” Jin Chengyan snorted coldly, turned around, and picked up the phone installed by the bathroom door. He pressed a few numbers. “Alice, there’s a reporter in my room. Come and deal with it, immediately!”
After hanging up the phone in anger, he felt a surge of irritation.
Qiao Nuo realized that Jin Chengyan thought she was a reporter who had barged into his room to take photos.
“Mr. Jin, I think you’re mistaken. I’m not a reporter; I came here to catch... to catch someone. The target is definitely not you, but I don’t know why you’re in this room!” Qiao Nuo explained, worried about what kind of ruthless person Jin Chengyan had called. She couldn’t afford to get into any trouble right now.
Jin Chengyan shot her a sharp glance, his expression filled with disbelief.
“If you don’t believe me, I, Qiao Nuo, swear on my integrity that if I have any intention of infringing upon you, may the worst misfortune in the world befall me!” Qiao Nuo was desperate to extricate herself from this situation.
However, when Jin Chengyan heard Qiao Nuo’s name, his furrowed brow relaxed slightly, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his mind.
“Qiao Nuo?” He focused on her, suddenly recognizing her. “The young lady of the Qiao Family?”
So Jin Chengyan knew her. Qiao Nuo nodded quickly, hoping not to be mistaken for a paparazzo; otherwise, she could only imagine how she might be treated.
Unexpectedly, Jin Chengyan suddenly chuckled softly. “The former young lady of the Qiao Family.”
Qiao Nuo stiffened. It had been half a month since she forced herself to adapt from being a wealthy heiress to living as an ordinary person, accepting the pitying or mocking glances from others. But when she truly felt the coldness from a stranger so closely, she still found it difficult to bear.
