"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to!" Qiao Nuo exclaimed, feeling utterly embarrassed. She had never faced a situation like this before and instinctively crouched down to pick up the towel, wrapping it around Jin Chengyan's waist!
She didn't even realize how bizarre her actions were; she had practically hugged his waist while securing the towel and even tucked in one of the corners! Was this her way of making amends?
Suddenly, a light cough came from above her. Qiao Nuo snapped back to reality and looked up, only to be met with Jin Chengyan's solid chest!
The realization of how shameful her actions were hit her—she had just wrapped a towel around him!
Thinking about what she had done made Qiao Nuo feel like her intelligence had taken a hit. She silently lowered her head, pretending that nothing had happened, and slowly backed away as if trying to escape unnoticed.
At that moment, she could still smell the pleasant scent of his post-shower fragrance lingering in the air, reminiscent of the body wash she used in her own bathroom. Being so close to him earlier had left her feeling flustered!
Twice now, and both times completely unintentional. She truly hadn't meant to see him exposed; it was all an accident!
Just the thought of having seen him in full last time made Qiao Nuo dash back into her room without looking back.
Jin Chengyan chuckled softly; Qiao Nuo really was easy to tease. He tightened his grip on the towel but noticed the bag that Qiao Nuo had accidentally left behind, along with its contents. He picked it up and glanced at the documents inside, shaking his head.
After a long moment of calming down in her room, Qiao Nuo realized that she had left the documents outside. She needed to go retrieve them!
After hesitating for a while, she finally ventured out. Fortunately, Jin Chengyan was already dressed and sitting at the dining table, eating her dinner.
Qiao Nuo licked her lips; he had eaten her dinner! With no choice left, she grabbed the documents and returned to her room...
“Wait a moment.” He stopped Qiao Nuo, his gaze indicating the documents in her hand.
Qiao Nuo took a second to process his words. So he had looked at her files while she was showering, and from just those few documents, he could tell she was in trouble?
“No!” she denied without thinking. She couldn’t let Jin Chengyan know that she had only been at the company for a few days and was already struggling, especially since she might very well be kicked out after failing. She was sure she could find a way to solve it!
Jin Chengyan raised an eyebrow but didn’t expose her.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Having lived here for half a month, Qiao Nuo had never had anyone ring the doorbell at this hour. Could it be that Jin Chengyan had visitors so soon after returning?
“Go answer the door,” Jin Chengyan said, nodding toward the entrance.
“It shouldn’t be anyone looking for me; no one knows I live here.” It was clearly someone looking for Jin Chengyan, and she had no idea how to introduce herself if she opened the door.
“Just go,” he said firmly, as if giving an order to a subordinate.
Qiao Nuo pouted but reluctantly set her handbag down and walked toward the door.
“If someone asks who I am, should I say I’m your maid?” Qiao Nuo muttered under her breath as she approached the door. “If people find out you’re married, tomorrow’s news will be all over the place…”
Her soft voice reached Jin Chengyan’s ears, and his temples throbbed. Before she could change her mind, he quickly made a phone call.
“Ancheng, I have a property listing for you—eighty units sold as a package.” He got straight to the point without any hesitation.
“Ah?” The person on the other end of the line clearly didn’t grasp what was happening.
“I’ll send you the salesperson’s contact information shortly. Remember, don’t mention my name.”
“Ah? Okay.” Although confused about the situation, it was Jin Chengyan who had made the offer, so there was no reason to refuse.
Five minutes later, Qiao Nuo returned happily with two bags of takeout.
“You ordered takeout? Why didn’t you say so earlier?” As Qiao Nuo thought about how to explain to the delivery person that she was just cleaning at Jin Mansion, she was surprised to find only a delivery guy at the door. When the steaming food was taken out from the thermal bag, Qiao Nuo felt her stomach rumble in anticipation.
Jin Chengyan didn’t even raise an eyebrow. “Must be a mistake; I didn’t order anything.” After saying that, he stood up and walked towards the dining area.
Qiao Nuo, however, didn’t care much about that. She sat down contentedly and began to enjoy her meal.
