Returning to the Jin Mansion half an hour later, under the relentless pressure from Jin Chengyan, Ni Yue and Shen Fengye left the Jinhua Residence in a state of disarray.
The first thing Jin Chengyan did upon arriving at the Jin Mansion was to place the fifty thousand he had extorted from Ni Yue right in front of Qiao Nuo.
"What do you want me to do with this?" Qiao Nuo stared at the check on the coffee table, puzzled. Wasn't this supposed to be for the repair of his car? Although she couldn't fathom how car repairs could cost fifty thousand, she recalled that when Jin Chengyan demanded five hundred thousand, Ni Yue had no choice but to grit her teeth and comply.
Ni Yue was exactly the type of person who feared the strong and bullied the weak.
Of course, Qiao Nuo wasn't saying that Jin Chengyan was a villain; he was just intimidating, his status quite formidable.
To put it bluntly, he was still a villain.
Jin Chengyan lazily turned around, looking down at Qiao Nuo sitting on the sofa. "I truly don't know what it feels like to stand there and be humiliated without saying a word."
Qiao Nuo's heart skipped a beat; so he had seen everything.
She looked up at Jin Chengyan with sparkling eyes. "Did you deliberately crash into Ni Yue's car? Was it to help me vent my anger?" Her gaze shimmered with joy, an emotion bubbling just beneath the surface.
After her bankruptcy, everyone had avoided her, offering no help whatsoever; she had to handle everything on her own! Yet now, a man named Jin Chengyan had not only stood up for her when she was bullied by a former friend but had also managed to extort fifty thousand on her behalf!
Jin Chengyan felt something stir within him as he watched her eyes seemingly sparkle like stars. In the next moment, he shifted his gaze away.
"Anyone driving would crash into a car that suddenly stopped ahead while making a turn," he explained casually. "I have another appointment this afternoon, and now my car is damaged. I’ll need A Shan to pick me up..."
His voice grew quieter until it faded away as he went upstairs.
Qiao Nuo couldn't help but laugh. Jin Chengyan was just... adorably handsome. He was wearing loungewear to go out for an appointment in the afternoon, clearly to see her. His vengeful nature was so endearing.
She had been troubled about how to return the favor that Ni Yue had imposed on her, but the moment Jin Chengyan appeared, Ni Yue was thrown into chaos. With Jin Chengyan by her side, she felt invincible!
Suddenly, Qiao Nuo halted her thoughts.
When she had entered earlier, she noticed that the teacup she had left on the table before leaving, along with the vase, had been knocked to the floor, leaving shards and water everywhere. She cleaned it up before Jin Chengyan returned.
Although Jin Chengyan said nothing, she could clearly sense that his collision with Ni Yue's car had elements of venting his frustrations.
Perhaps it was due to troubles in his romantic life; there seemed to be issues between him and Ruan Shengyu.
And she realized that Jin Chengyan was a man with a woman in his life, and Qiao Nuo's marriage would come to an end after four years.
As Qiao Nuo thought about this, she sensed something was off. Why did she feel an emptiness inside when contemplating the end of this marriage? It shouldn’t be like this, right?
On Monday at work, Qiao Nuo received a phone call from someone wanting to buy a house! And they wanted to purchase as many as eighty units at once!
Qiao Nuo was overjoyed. Previously, when she called, the other party had refused without a second thought. She never expected that just a few days later, they would change their minds! She immediately prepared the sales contract and went to their company the next day to sign the letter of intent.
