Jin Chengyan leaned on the kitchen counter with one hand while holding a spatula in the other, stirring the contents of the pan. "Looks good," he remarked.
Qiao Nuo was practically frozen, unsure of what to make of Jin Chengyan suddenly being so close. Such intimate actions were typically reserved for couples in love or newlyweds. Why was he behaving this way?
Who said not to get emotional?
But was he crossing a line now?
"Jin... Jin Chengyan..." Qiao Nuo found it difficult to even say his name.
"Do you want to taste it?" He scooped up a shrimp with the spatula and brought it to her lips.
Qiao Nuo felt flustered!
She had been in relationships before, watched romantic dramas, and read love stories! So she understood all too well that Jin Chengyan was flirting with her!
But she didn’t understand why he was doing this! His breath brushed against her neck as he spoke softly in her ear, sending shivers down her spine. Yet, confined as she was, she couldn’t move an inch; any shift would bring her closer to him!
"Aren't you going to eat?" Seeing that Qiao Nuo hadn’t moved for a while, Jin Chengyan naturally pulled the spatula back and leaned forward to eat the shrimp himself.
She could clearly hear him chewing right next to her ear, and she felt her heart racing uncontrollably!
“Hmm, it’s delicious.” After saying this, he placed the spatula back into the pot. After a while, he finally released his grip on the counter, allowing Qiao Nuo to regain her freedom!
Once liberated, Qiao Nuo realized that one of her hands was tightly gripping the pot handle, a sign of her nervousness from being so close to Jin Chengyan.
She had no idea what Jin Chengyan was planning to do. Releasing the handle, Qiao Nuo turned around, feeling that she should properly explain the matter regarding their contract. He didn’t need to act like a husband; for instance, just now had been too much…
However, when she turned around, she saw Jin Chengyan looking completely calm and composed, as if the intimacy they had just shared had never happened.
He shrugged. “Aren’t you going to serve the dishes?” His seemingly innocuous question deflated Qiao Nuo’s spirits. Perhaps what had just occurred was completely normal for Jin Chengyan…
Thinking this, she turned back to serve the dishes but felt as if she had been teased and was a bit annoyed.

There were more images: Jin Chengyan embracing Qiao Nuo at the countertop as they cooked together, and Jin Chengyan helping Qiao Nuo tend to her injured finger...
"Bang—" Ruan Shengyu slammed her phone down on the table, her chest heaving violently.
