Upon returning to her small apartment, Qiao Nuo discovered that Qiao Chen was already gone. He had left a note stating that the school had called him back for classes and promised not to make the same mistake again.
Qiao Nuo couldn't help but smile as she read the note. This guy was too afraid to call and face the scolding, so he only dared to leave a small note. She could easily imagine the conflicted expression on Qiao Chen's face while he was writing it.
However, the fact that Qiao Chen could go back to school meant… Jin Chengyan.
Had he stopped retaliating against her?
Did he believe she was framed?
Qiao Nuo quickly took out her phone, intending to call Jin Chengyan, but as she rummaged through her bag, she realized her phone was missing!
That was her diamond-studded phone! If it was lost, how much would that cost her?
Perhaps she had left it in Yan Beiting's car after he hung up on Jin Chengyan earlier.
But none of that mattered now; Qiao Nuo needed to find Jin Chengyan immediately to thank him for not being a man blinded by love.
She took a taxi back to Jin Mansion, only to find that Jin Chengyan wasn't there. All she could do was wait… and wait…
*
Qiao Nuo dozed off on the sofa while waiting. When she finally woke up to some noise, she glanced at the clock and saw it was already midnight.
The lights in the foyer turned on, and Qiao Nuo thought it might be Jin Chengyan returning. She rubbed her eyes and walked over in that direction.
Sure enough, it was Jin Chengyan who had returned.
However, he was reeking of smoke and alcohol, completely drunk as he staggered in from outside.
Just as he was about to collapse onto the floor, Qiao Nuo rushed forward to support him.
“Jin Chengyan, how could you drink so much? Did someone force you to drink at the gathering?” Qiao Nuo exerted all her strength to hold him up, only to realize that this man was heavier than she had anticipated.
His entire weight seemed to be pressing down on her!
Qiao Nuo nearly lost her balance, almost toppling over with him. Luckily, she managed to grab onto the shoe cabinet to steady herself.
“Hey… don’t fall! I’ll help you back to your room!” The drowsiness that had enveloped her vanished in an instant as she focused solely on getting Jin Chengyan to his room.
But a drunken Jin Chengyan was hardly compliant.
Suddenly, he wrapped his arms around Qiao Nuo, burying his head in the crook of her neck and holding on tightly.
“Don’t… leave me…” Jin Chengyan murmured softly, his voice tinged with a sense of profound despair.
“Okay, I won’t leave. But I need to get you into your room,” Qiao Nuo replied, also embracing him. She figured it would be easier to get him onto the sofa; going upstairs seemed like an insurmountable challenge.
“No… no… you can’t… like someone else… you can’t!”
Three black lines appeared on Qiao Nuo’s forehead. Did she really need Jin Chengyan’s permission for whom she liked?
"Alright, alright, I don't like anyone else. Can you just go to the living room obediently?" She knew she couldn't think like a normal person when dealing with someone who was drunk; she needed to resolve this situation quickly.
However, upon hearing her response, Jin Chengyan felt delighted. He released Qiao Nuo and cupped her face in his hands.
Qiao Nuo was momentarily stunned by Jin Chengyan's sudden action. Even in his drunken state, when he looked seriously at someone, his gaze was electrifying. In that moment, there was only one person in his eyes.
Her heart inexplicably raced.
But what surprised her even more was when Jin Chengyan leaned in and kissed her!
It was a real kiss, not the teasing from that time in the office.
His mouth carried a strong scent of alcohol, and as he pried her lips apart, the taste flooded into her mouth.
It was spicy, and there was... a feeling of suffocation.
