Qiao Nuo found herself back at Jin Mansion, uncertain about how to explain the situation with Ji Xining to Jin Chengyan. Perhaps it was better not to explain at all?
Just then, as she returned to the mansion, the doorbell rang.
She hurried to open the door and was surprised to see Jin Chengyan's sister, Jin Mengli, standing outside with her son in tow.
"Sister?" Qiao Nuo exclaimed, taken aback. "What brings you here?"
"Come in!"
Jin Mengli seemed pressed for time. She glanced at her watch and said to Qiao Nuo, "I can't stay long. I have to go on a business trip unexpectedly. Yu Xiu's father is abroad meeting Uncle, and I know he’s at the hospital right now. Could you please take Yu Xiu over there for me?"
Qiao Nuo couldn't let Jin Chengyan's sister down.
"Of course! I'll take Yu Xiu over there. Don't worry!" she replied immediately.
"Great! After visiting A Yan at the hospital, just bring him back home. Make sure he doesn't disturb A Yan while he's resting."
"I won't disturb Uncle's rest! He's just pretending to be sick! He told me that himself when I called this morning!" Yu Xiu quickly retorted.
Qiao Nuo chuckled at the little one's defiant expression; it was truly adorable.
The last time she visited Jin Family Mansion, Yu Xiu had been sleeping in his mother's arms, undisturbed by all the commotion around him—a remarkably easygoing child.
Jin Mengli rubbed her temples and said, "Thank you for this." After handing Yu Xiu over to Qiao Nuo, she got into her car and headed towards the airport.
While driving, Jin Mengli called her mother, Yu Xin.
"Mom, I've dropped off Yu Xiu. Honestly, I think this is pointless. What’s the point of testing someone? After all, she's A Yan's wife now. Are you really going to let her and A Yan divorce just because she doesn't like kids?" Jin Mengli expressed her confusion over her mother's actions.
"You don't understand. Just leave it to me; I'll handle it. Be careful while you're out," her mother replied.
After hanging up the phone, Jin Mengli shook her head.
But thinking about it, this could be considered Qiao Nuo's true entry into the Jin Family's affairs!
Ultimately, the Jin Family still did not want a woman of poor character as their daughter-in-law.

"Aunt-in-law, you and Uncle live in this old house? The books say old houses are haunted; aren't you afraid of ghosts?" Chu Yuxiu followed Qiao Nuo.
Qiao Nuo was preparing clothes for Jin Chengyan. This man was incredibly picky and later texted her, saying he couldn't stand the hospital gown any longer and insisted that Qiao Nuo bring him pajamas.
He also mentioned needing some food because he wasn't used to the hospital meals.
At that moment, Qiao Nuo wanted to reply, "If you can't stand it so much, why have you been in the hospital for so many days? You must be quite tolerant!"
However, despite her thoughts, Qiao Nuo obediently packed his things.
But hearing Chu Yuxiu's words made her feel a chill run down her spine.
She turned to look at the little gentleman in a small suit with a red bow tie, sitting upright on the end of Jin Chengyan's bed, speaking earnestly.
"Um... there shouldn't be any ghosts here!" If there were, Qiao Nuo would have been scared to death when she slept alone a few days ago!
"Oh..." Chu Yuxiu nodded thoughtfully. "But since Grandpa and Grandma don't live here, it's just said to be haunted. Uncle lives here because he is brave! Actually, I would love to live here with Uncle too! But my parents have their own home; I can't leave them!"
Qiao Nuo quickly finished packing Jin Chengyan's pajamas and undergarments, eager to take Chu Yuxiu away from this place.
Although Jin Chengyan's room had been modernized, the wardrobe still contained furniture from the last century, giving it an eerie feel no matter how one looked at it.
“Cough, cough... Yu Xiu, let’s head downstairs!” Qiao Nuo quickly grabbed her bag and was eager to leave the room, vowing never to return.
Fortunately, the downstairs area was much brighter, with the setting sun streaming through the windows, which eased Qiao Nuo's mind considerably.
She busied herself preparing some food for Jin Chengyan, working quickly to get everything ready. With a thermal container in hand, she took Chu Yuxiu and headed out.
“Aunt-in-law, there’s a child seat in the trunk!” Chu Yuxiu pointed at a white BMW parked in the lot, recalling that he had sat in it before.
Qiao Nuo had just been startled by Chu Yuxiu and had forgotten about the child seat. She hurriedly placed her things in the passenger seat and retrieved the child seat from the trunk, installing it in the back seat.
Once she secured Chu Yuxiu’s seatbelt, Qiao Nuo returned to the driver’s seat and drove out of Jin Mansion.
Sitting in the back seat, Chu Yuxiu seemed to be in high spirits, waving his hands excitedly and making silly faces at the rearview mirror just for Qiao Nuo's amusement.
As Qiao Nuo drove, her mind wandered back to the old building of Jin Mansion. She felt uneasy; she would be spending quite some time in that old house alone—how frightening that thought was!
This Chu Yuxiu acted as if nothing had happened after mentioning that incident; he was quite mischievous for his age.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Chu Yuxiu dashed into Jin Chengyan's ward with enthusiasm.
It suddenly struck Qiao Nuo that she had visited Jin Chengyan's room twice that day.
And now, knowing that Ji Xining had intentionally allowed Ruan Shengyu to slap her, could she still face Jin Chengyan?
With these conflicting feelings swirling in her mind, Qiao Nuo stepped into the ward.
As she approached the door, she heard laughter coming from inside.
“Uncle, Aunt-in-law is really too timid! When I told her about the ghosts in the old house, her face turned completely pale! Hahaha...” Chu Yuxiu's laughter echoed through the room.
Clearly, just a moment ago, when he was with Qiao Nuo, this little guy was such a gentleman. But now, in front of Jin Chengyan, he acts like a little madman.
And to think, she was actually scolded by a child for being timid...

"Chu Yuxiu, you can't bully my wife!" After laughing, Jin Chengyan surprisingly spoke seriously to his little nephew.
However, it was evident that Chu Yuxiu did not take Jin Chengyan's words to heart.
"But you just told me you wouldn't bully me! You're bullying me right now! I'm going to tell my mom—your big sister—so she can teach you a lesson!"
Jin Chengyan was speechless. What a troublesome little kid. "Chu Yuxiu, as a young man, you shouldn't go running to your mom every time something happens. Only little girls do that."
As soon as he heard this, Chu Yuxiu immediately changed his tone. "I'm not a girl! I won't tell my mom!"
Seeing Chu Yuxiu like this made Jin Chengyan laugh.
"You said Aunt-in-law came with you. Where is she?" Jin Chengyan was puzzled about how Chu Yuxiu ended up with Qiao Nuo.
However, watching Chu Yuxiu interact with Qiao Nuo, it seemed they got along exceptionally well!
"I was too busy coming to see you! Aunt-in-law is following behind; she might have gotten lost!" Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Chu Yuxiu quickly shrank back from the bed. "I need to go find Aunt-in-law! If I lose her, you'll definitely blame me!"
Jin Chengyan couldn't help but chuckle.
But before Chu Yuxiu could run out, Qiao Nuo steeled herself and walked in.
Chu Yuxiu let out a sigh of relief and earnestly said, "Aunt-in-law, from now on, when you go out, don't wander off! Uncle will be very worried! Just look at me; I never run off!"

“What do your parents do in front of you all day?” Jin Chengyan replied helplessly. It seemed it was time to remind his sister to be more mindful and not kiss in front of the child!
“But Dad says you should kiss the ones you love! You can pretend I’m not here; my mom and dad do that when they kiss!”
Qiao Nuo broke into a sweat; Chu Yuxiu was definitely a little troublemaker sent by the Jin Family to stir things up.
“Ahem… I brought you some pajamas,” Qiao Nuo attempted to change the subject, knowing that this little monkey wouldn’t let up otherwise.
Jin Chengyan, who had been half-sitting on the bed, stood up as he saw Qiao Nuo approach. He walked over and placed the bag of clothes she was holding on the bed. Noticing a thermal container as well, he guessed it contained food she had brought and casually set it on the table.
Meanwhile, Chu Yuxiu was craning her neck, watching her Uncle to see if he would kiss Aunt-in-law.
The expression on her face made Qiao Nuo feel both amused and exasperated.
Jin Chengyan seemed to understand that Chu Yuxiu wouldn’t give up easily; perhaps she really was a little spy sent by the Jin Family!
Standing before Qiao Nuo, he stretched out one hand to cover Chu Yuxiu’s eyes while wrapping his other arm around Qiao Nuo’s neck and leaned in to kiss her.
“Wuwu… Uncle, let me see! You can pretend I’m air, but I want to watch!”
In front of Qiao Nuo was Jin Chengyan’s presence, while her ears were filled with Chu Yuxiu’s incessant chatter.
She thought it was just a fleeting kiss, but when she intended to pull away, he forcefully entered her mouth.
“Mm…” Qiao Nuo pressed her hands against Jin Chengyan's chest. This man, didn’t he realize there was a child present?
Yet he remained obstinate, focused solely on his kiss.
The sounds below gradually faded, likely because Chu Yuxiu understood he could no longer see them being affectionate. But he wondered why this kiss was taking so long.
Didn’t parents just kiss each other on the cheek? Two seconds would suffice. How many seconds had it been now?
Did Uncle and Aunt-in-law need to kiss for that long?
Jin Chengyan released Qiao Nuo, resting his forehead against hers, gazing at her flushed lips, his fingers unconsciously gliding over them.
“How did I not know you were so timid?” Jin Chengyan recalled hearing Chu Yuxiu earlier and couldn’t imagine Qiao Nuo’s expression at that moment.
He thought she should be fearless.
“There are many things you don’t know.” Whether it was sadness or something else, Qiao Nuo felt the atmosphere between them stiffen slightly as she spoke.
Jin Chengyan had no idea how much she was hiding.
“Uncle, are you done kissing?” Chu Yuxiu’s voice snapped Jin Chengyan and Qiao Nuo back to reality.
Qiao Nuo took a couple of steps back, looking at Chu Yuxiu, who was covering his eyes with Jin Chengyan’s hand.
He released Chu Yuxiu and scooped him up into his arms. However, it was unclear whether the little guy had gained weight or if Jin Chengyan was struggling due to his injury; it was evident he found it somewhat taxing.
“Jin Chengyan…” Qiao Nuo wanted to tell him not to push himself.
Jin Chengyan wore a cheerful expression as he smiled and hugged Chu Yuxiu, sitting down by the bed.
"You’re such a big person standing there; how can you be invisible? You’re small but full of mischief!" Jin Chengyan teased Chu Yuxiu.
Chu Yuxiu stuck out his tongue and quickly pulled away from Jin Chengyan's embrace, tugging at his shirt. "Uncle, Aunt-in-law just made a lot of delicious food, but she wants to bring it all to you. Can I have a little bit too?"
Qiao Nuo felt a few black lines appear on her forehead. Earlier, when she was at Jin Mansion, she had asked Chu Yuxiu if he wanted to eat something in advance.
That little gentleman had firmly replied, "No, that’s for Uncle. I can’t eat the patient’s food!"
Now, his true colors were showing!
"You can’t eat it; you’re not sick," Jin Chengyan teased Chu Yuxiu.
"No, I am sick!" Chu Yuxiu insisted seriously, genuinely believing he was unwell.
"You’re not sick!"
"No, I really am sick!"
Qiao Nuo could no longer watch this unfold. Was there really a need to tease her little nephew like this? Was it fair to make him admit he was sick just because he was still young and didn’t understand?
Meeting Qiao Nuo's amused gaze, Jin Chengyan couldn’t help but smile as well.
"Chu Yuxiu says he’s sick; don’t take him too seriously. This kid is full of tricks," Jin Chengyan said while playfully holding the back of Chu Yuxiu's neck.
Only then did Qiao Nuo realize that Jin Chengyan was getting back at her!
He had scared her earlier, and now he was getting revenge on her behalf.
"Dear wife..."
Qiao Nuo never expected Jin Chengyan to address her with such a common term. When she heard him say it at the door just now, her heart raced.
However, Chu Yuxiu didn't care about being tricked by relatives; as long as there was good food, what was a little deception? Once she ate, she would feel fine!
Thus, most of the dinner Qiao Nuo prepared for Jin Chengyan was devoured by Chu Yuxiu. It seemed that perhaps he was neglected at home, as he ate particularly joyfully!
He even exclaimed, "Aunt-in-law, your cooking is so delicious! It's better than what our aunt makes and even better than what my mom makes!"
Jin Chengyan tapped Chu Yuxiu on the head and said, "What your mom cooks can hardly be called food. You better not compare my wife's cooking to your mom's!"
"If you keep talking about my mom like that, I'm going to tell her! I'll have my sister teach you a lesson!"
"Chu Yuxiu, I've told you before, real men don't run to their parents over every little thing."
"Aunt-in-law, how can your husband bully a little kid like this? Aren't you going to teach him a lesson?" Unable to argue with Jin Chengyan, Chu Yuxiu immediately sought help from her aunt.
Just then, Qiao Nuo watched their interaction and suddenly felt that this scene was truly beautiful; she didn't want to disrupt it.
