Jiang Haotian was stunned, his eyes wide open, his face filled with shock and disbelief.
Her words fell upon him like a bucket of cold water, unexpectedly dousing his hopes and joy, plunging his heart into an endless darkness.
She did not love him.
The stark truth, laid bare by her lips, wielded a devastating power that filled him with immense pain and despair.
"Wandie! You were the one who wanted to bear Xin'er's burden! It's too late to back out now!" He refused to confront the reality of her indifference, unwilling to allow her to withdraw at the last moment.
He pinned her slender wrists to the sides of the pillow, his grip so tight it felt as if he might crush them.
Then, a brutal kiss rained down upon her like a storm, fueled by anger and resentment.
In that moment, he resembled a devil in the dark night, unleashing a malevolent force due to her heartlessness.
His touch was no longer gentle; it was filled with plunder and possession. His words lost their warmth, replaced only by coldness and cruelty.
Driven to the edge by her rejection, resentment and desire intertwined within him, stripping away his reason. He wanted to drag her down to hell with him.
Wandie found herself trapped by his overwhelming strength, unable to move, forced to submit to his whims.
Tears streamed down her face onto the pillow as she cried out in desperation, her voice piercing and hopeless, but none of it made any difference.
As pain washed over her, Wandie felt like a fish stranded on the riverbank, drained of strength and struggling to breathe.
In the haze of her suffering, she saw his twisted expression and heard his mocking laughter whispering in her ear: "Wandie, you see? If I want you to be mine, then you must be mine. Why should I seek your consent?"
What followed was an unrelenting assault that brought her unbearable pain and pleasure.
Wandie felt like a helpless and fragile Orchid caught in a tempest, ruthlessly battered and tormented, both body and soul suffering immense trauma.
Gradually, her consciousness began to fade; all that remained in her memory was Jiang Haotian's cruel plundering and cold smile. The entire world seemed to spin around her as she sank deeper into the abyss of pain, unable to find even a glimmer of hope.
Early in the morning, Wandie was awakened by the sound of hammering outside her window. Her head felt heavy, and her body ached as if it had been run over by a cart; every movement sent sharp pains through her.
Looking out, she saw servants nailing something to her window. Suddenly, it dawned on her, and despite the pain, she got out of bed.
She reached for the window, but it was nailed shut. When she tried to open the door, she found it locked. She was completely trapped in this room.
“Jiang Haotian! Let me out!” She pounded on the door repeatedly, her palms turning red as she called his name with anger and desperation. But no one responded; only silence echoed back at her.
Jiang Haotian stood with his arms crossed beside the door, coldly observing everything with a cruel smile creeping onto his lips. He thought to himself that he wanted to see how she could possibly reach Bao Sinian from this “impenetrable fortress.”
He intended to crush her hopes entirely; she would belong to him alone.
Wandie's cries grew more desperate, her voice sharp like a knife, causing Jiang Haotian's heart to stir with unease.
Just as he was about to leave, A Ji hurried over and whispered something in his ear.
Jiang Haotian's expression darkened immediately, like the sky before a storm.
After a moment's hesitation, he walked toward the front hall.
“What are you doing here?” The man in the Moonlight White Robe sat with his back turned, leisurely sipping tea.
Jiang Haotian entered and spoke impatiently, a hint of disdain in his tone.
“I thought Master Jiang had forgotten our agreement. If I hadn’t informed you back then, Wandie and I might still be living happily together!”
The man slowly turned around, still looking refined and gentle, but there was a glint of cunning in his eyes.
“The secret recipe for You Lan Wine is more precious to the old man than his own life; it’s not so easily obtained,” Jiang Haotian replied expressionlessly, hands clasped behind his back while his right hand formed a tight fist, veins bulging on the back of it.
He felt genuinely displeased; when had he ever been threatened like this?
The appearance of this person filled him with an overwhelming sense of irritation and disgust.
"If you do not adhere to the agreement, I will have no choice but to take Wandie away! I know Wandie still has feelings for me. Even if I cannot take her body, it doesn’t mean I can’t take her heart. If you follow the agreement, I can put on a show for her, making her completely give up on me. At that point, you can treat her with care, and she might quickly fall in love with you."
Such words did not seem to belong to the owner of that face.
All along, Wandie loved his refined elegance and his untainted demeanor, but how could she know that this man was merely a hypocrite, driven by self-interest and intent on exploiting her?
"Fine!" Jiang Haotian furrowed his brows tightly, struggling internally.
After some thought, he ultimately agreed.
No matter what, as long as Wandie could fall in love with him, any method was worth a try.
Moreover, he believed in himself; he would surely be able to win over this hypocritical and heartless little man before him and give Wandie true happiness.
The two reached a consensus, each calculating how to get what they wanted.
As they conversed, their expressions remained cold, their eyes glinting with calculation.
They failed to notice the fleeting shadow outside the door and did not anticipate that their entire conversation had been overheard.
