A few days later, rumors suddenly spread throughout the Jiang Residence, with servants discussing a mysterious case that had just occurred in the western suburbs of Tongcheng.
It was said that the deceased was a handsome young man from Jiuxiang Town, none other than Bao Sinian, who had visited the Jiang Residence just a few days prior.
This news hit the Jiang Residence like a bombshell.
Ever since Wandie had been imprisoned by Jiang Haotian, she had been isolated from the world. Aside from Jiang Haotian and Xin'er, who took care of her, she hardly saw anyone else.
That day, when Xin'er came in to bring her food, she shared this shocking news with Wandie.
Wandie had been feeling despondent for days; her health was deteriorating, and her spirit was low.
Upon hearing that Bao Sinian was dead, it felt as if her chest had been suddenly constricted. A wave of intense pain washed over her, and unable to bear it, she coughed up blood.
"How could this happen? Sinian, how could you be dead?" Wandie shook Xin'er’s arm in disbelief, her grip so tight it nearly broke Xin'er’s arm. She coughed and questioned, her voice filled with despair.
But Xin'er suddenly appeared troubled, looking as if she found it hard to speak. Her expression only heightened Wandie's anxiety. "Xin'er, do you know something? Please tell me."
Xin'er glanced around nervously, avoiding Wandie's gaze and stammering without revealing anything. It wasn't until Wandie pleaded desperately that she finally spoke up: "Miss, I don’t know much; I just feel that Master Bao's death is rather suspicious! He visited the residence a few days ago because he was worried about your safety. I saw him speaking with Master in the front hall for a bit before he left. Coincidentally, something happened to him shortly after."
So it was like this.
Wandie suddenly felt the world spinning around her; darkness enveloped her vision as she collapsed to the ground.
Her body fell limply like a withered petal.
The Jiang Residence was immediately thrown into chaos, with servants rushing about in panic, calling for a doctor.
The doctor that Jiang Haotian had summoned said that she had fainted due to not eating or sleeping well in recent days, and that her condition was not serious.
Upon hearing this news, the weight on his heart finally lifted.
“If you don’t eat, I will force you to!” Jiang Haotian glared at her, his eyes filled with both concern and reproach.
He had long forgotten how she had clashed with him a few days prior; all he felt now was worry for her.
“Jiang Haotian, stop pretending. You can forget about me ever loving you,” she said, her lips pale and devoid of color, tears still lingering at the corners of her eyes. Despite her frail appearance, her words were cold and resolute, carrying a sense of determination.
“You!” Jiang Haotian was once again infuriated by her words, rage burning fiercely within him. His large hand involuntarily tightened around her slender neck; with a slight squeeze, he made her wince in pain, her breathing becoming rapid.
“Beg me. Say you love me, and I will let you go.” He threatened her with his life, merely wanting to hear those sweet words from her lips, yet she stubbornly refused to yield, her eyes filled with defiance.
“You can kill me, just like you did Bao Sinian, but don’t think I will ever say I love you.”
She defiantly tilted her head back, the veins on her neck standing out prominently. Her gaze met his without a hint of fear, as if declaring war against him.
In the end, he still couldn’t bring himself to do it; he couldn’t bear to kill her.
With a dejected sigh, he released his grip as if deflating like a punctured ball. Angrily, he questioned, “Who said I killed Bao Sinian?”
Wandie let out a cold laugh, disdainfully turning her face away, ignoring his questions and anger. "You know exactly what you've done; why pretend now?"
"Looks like you've already decided I'm the murderer?" He understood that at this moment, she wouldn't accept any of his explanations or defenses.
She stubbornly believed him to be a cunning and despicable villain, even a ruthless killer, filled with misunderstandings and hatred towards him.
"Even if I did kill someone, what can you do about it?" He arrogantly declared this, while his own anger and helplessness reached a boiling point.
Wandie's clothes were also torn apart, leaving her body exposed to the air, filling her with an overwhelming sense of fear and shame.
Since she had deemed him a wicked man, why should he treat her kindly?
"Jiang Haotian, you might as well just kill me!" Wandie's eyes widened in terror, filled with fear and despair. She clutched the tattered pieces of fabric tightly, trying to cover herself, her voice piercing as she shouted.
"Wandie, I won't let you die; I will make you wish you were dead!"
He bound her arms with his clothes, securing them to the headboard with rough and decisive movements.
No matter how much she pleaded or begged for mercy, he showed no signs of softness. The resentment and anger within him had completely clouded his judgment.
His kisses were sometimes as gentle as a feather brushing against her skin, and at other times as violent as a torrential downpour.
For Wandie, this was a torment more excruciating than death itself.
Her body began to lose control, broken moans involuntarily spilling from her lips.
“Wandie, you love me; your body is already surrendering to me.”
Jiang Haotian watched her reaction with satisfaction. Seeing her deliberately bite her lip to suppress herself, he punished her by prying open her lips with his tongue.
Hearing her helpless pleas echo again, he could no longer contain the desire within him and completely indulged himself in her.
He treated her like a beloved pet, giving her the best of everything, yet constantly worried that she would escape and betray him.
Only when she was beneath him did he feel that she truly existed, that she belonged entirely to him.
When this nightmare finally ended, Wandie wearily closed her eyes, yet the shadow of Bao Sinian kept flashing in her mind.
His warm yet indifferent smile, his handsome face—his figure would even appear in her dreams.
In those dreams, he repeatedly voiced his grievances, pleading for Wandie to help him take revenge.
In the blink of an eye, there would be his lifeless form, eyes tightly shut, his body soaked in blood. Each time this happened, Wandie would suddenly awaken, drenched in cold sweat.
Thus, she finally made up her mind to avenge Bao Sinian and make Jiang Haotian pay for his sins with his life.
