The number of people in the waiting room decreased, and with the final announcement urging passengers to board, the people boarding at gate C1 had all disappeared behind the closed boarding gate. Gert stood behind Elena, looking somewhat dazed. It seemed like he had made a mistake.
"Gert."
With her back turned to Gert, Elena withdrew her gaze from the plane about to take off.
"I hate this kind of arbitrary arrangement."
Her tone was very normal, gentle, and calm, as if she wasn't angry at all. But Gert knew that he had successfully hit a nerve with her. "I'm sorry, but I just hope that you and William can start over—"
"We are not in a romantic relationship." Elena suddenly turned around and stared at Gert without blinking, "I like William, but only as a friend."
Gert still didn't want to give up, "But you two are so compatible, not just in status, haven't you noticed? You laugh more when you're with William than when you're with us after coming back."
"William is a very pleasant conversationalist." Elena interrupted him.
She doesn't want to argue with Gert.
"I have already clarified things with William, so let's leave it at that," she said.
Gert fell silent for a moment, thinking about something, frowning and looking displeased.
"Is it because of Osiris? Because of him, you can't date other men?"
As Gert spoke, Elena felt the air grow stiflingly hot.
She suddenly lowered her face. "Gert!"
"That guy is such a troublemaker! Xilin told me that That guy actually dared to hurt William—"
"It wasn't him."
Elena glared at him.
“Why are you talking to him now? Erin, That guy is a bad guy who hurt your heart. How can you protect him now?”
Gert couldn't believe it. He couldn't understand how his sister could suddenly become so foolish, choosing to believe in an unreliable man.
Elena remained silent, her face growing even more serious.
She didn't know how to explain it to Gert. But what really bothered her was that when she heard William say that Osiris had saved him, she actually felt relieved. Damn it, damn it!
On the way home, Elena and Gert sat in silence, one in front and one behind, refusing to speak to each other.
"Hey, what's wrong with you two? Why the long faces? Who owes you money?"
As soon as Maxim and they got home, they ran into each other. Seeing the expressions on the siblings' faces, Maxim made a joke, but was immediately glared at by both of them.
Very innocent.
"Elena, did Gert provoke you?"
Compared to that violent guy Gert, Maxim would rather start with Elena, at least she only kills with her eyes, not directly with her hands.
"Mm." Elena didn't want to talk to him, so she lay on the bed, uninterestedly tapping the screen of her phone.
"Let me guess," Maxim saw that she didn't want to talk, so he continued, "If I'm not mistaken, Gert is once again trying to set you up with His Royal Highness Prince William."
Apart from this, he couldn't think of anything else that would bother Elena so much.
Sure enough, Elena glanced at him.
"Gert, how can you be so blind? Can't you see that there's no spark between you and William?"
Maxim deliberately raised his voice, pretending to complain, and glanced at Elena, seeing that she finally had some reaction, and a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"Ah, Our elder brother is just a simple-minded guy with a strong physique. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been liked for so many years, and he's like a block of wood, not saying a word. You know, Orly said she had a New Target this morning."
Maxim is deliberately teasing her, Elena understands in her heart, but her ears still perk up.
Orly has a New Target? Even her best friend didn't know.
Maxim How did you know?
"I don't want to know. If you're going to get angry, then I won't say it. If you insist on being angry, then I'll let you calm down first."
Maxim leaned against the edge of the bed, glanced at Elena from the corner of his eye, and then smiled as he walked towards the door.
One step, two steps, he silently counted in his heart. On his tenth step out, Elena suddenly turned over and sat up in bed.
"What's the New Target?"
Although her face was still gloomy, the curiosity in her eyes couldn't deceive anyone.
"Are you willing to listen to me?" Maxim leaned against the door, teasingly looking at his awkward sister. With a snort, Elena blushed slightly. She was indeed angry at Gert for meddling and causing her to lose face, but she was just angry, not really wanting to do anything to Gert.
"Speaking of Orly, what's the New Target?"
Knowing that she is thin-skinned, Maxim just smiled and said, "I heard she's the owner of some small company, not as good as our boss, but from what Orly said, she's not bad."
"She will bring people to dinner tonight, um, around seven o'clock, you can help her taste the food then."
