Xu Shen fell silent after hearing those words, unsure of what to say. Every time he spoke with his mother, she was always direct, leaving him at a loss for words. Although sometimes his own comments might provoke anger, most of the time he found himself not knowing how to respond during their conversations. 0

Perhaps this was why his mother had achieved such remarkable success; she accomplished things that others could not, and her way with words was undeniably powerful. Whatever came out of her mouth was hard to doubt. 0

He realized that when he felt unhappy, his mother would recount stories from the past that evoked sympathy in him. This led him to agree to her request, promising that he would never refuse her when she needed him. 0

Suddenly, he regretted what he had just said. It seemed like everything was part of his mother's plan, and once again, he had fallen into her carefully laid trap. While it might sound a bit harsh to say so, it was true. Yet, he willingly stepped into this situation because whether or not he fell into someone else's hands, the benefits would ultimately flow back to his family—essentially contributing to their well-being. 0

He understood his mother's tactics well. If he continued to engage with her in this manner, they could talk for days without stopping. Once she opened up, it was nearly impossible to get her to stop talking. 0

So he quickly redirected her attention back to the outside world, hoping to discuss more pressing matters. He knew that when she began reminiscing about his childhood, she would talk endlessly. 0

If she went on and on, it would be a waste of time for him since he had already heard those stories countless times. However, even during idle moments, her recounting often left him feeling bewildered. 0

Most of the details were familiar to him by now, and he had grown tired of hearing them. Each time she sought something from him, she would bring up these old tales again, which had lost their novelty. 0

Yet his mother remained a figure of immense importance in his heart. He could never refuse any of her requests; she embodied the ideal of unconditional love and support. 0

Thus, no matter what happened, he didn't want to hurt her feelings. He said softly, "I understand everything you've mentioned, so let's not revisit these topics anymore, okay?" 0
