Xu Shen smiled but did not continue with anything further, nor did he find his mother's actions overly endearing. Although he claimed to have many things to do, in reality, when he was home alone, there was hardly anything to occupy his time. He felt a bit lonely, and to avoid feeling that way too acutely, he deliberately sought out tasks to keep himself busy.
Just as he placed his phone on the table, a thought struck him—he recalled the unpleasant incident that had occurred during the day. It was indeed infuriating, and he felt a strong sense of injustice. He picked up his phone again and replayed the voice recording he had made earlier.
When he spoke those words, he had indeed deceived the other person, but the content of that recording startled him because it mentioned the name Li Yingxue. If it weren't for the mention of this person's name, he would never have interfered in the matter. However, since he had heard about it, he was determined not to let it go easily.
People like them needed to understand their own limitations; if they were not made aware of Xu Shen's capabilities, they would only become more arrogant. Moreover, Li Yingxue still needed to work in this industry. If she couldn't establish herself here, it would lead to significant trouble down the line. Xu Shen felt that all he was doing was something within his means.
What he did would not affect him much personally, but for her, it was different. After this incident, many people would likely view her differently and even show her respect. Those who might want to provoke her would surely keep their distance.
After hearing the conversation of the middle-aged man, Xu Shen felt an intense anger rise within him. He never expected such things could be hidden in this industry. If it hadn't been for that coincidental encounter that day, he couldn't have imagined what might unfold next.
Although Li Yingxue spoke confidently, there were times when she lacked clarity—especially regarding certain individuals and relationships within the industry. For a young girl trying to survive in this field, it was incredibly challenging. She had never believed in so-called improper relationships and always preferred to rely on her own efforts.
While this approach was commendable, it also meant she would face many hardships.
Xu Shen found himself deeply captivated by the recording. He kept replaying the conversation between himself and Li Yingxue in his mind. When they had spoken earlier, he sensed she might respond harshly; he hadn't intended to provoke her but merely wanted to have a few words with her and document them so that later on, when he was alone, he could reflect on them.
Though this method might not be ideal, everyone has their own interests at heart. He had always cared for this girl and found it hard to let go of those feelings. Thus, when taking action, he often considered her well-being; however, her true feelings were quite complex, especially reflected in how she communicated.
