Perhaps due to the nature of his profession, every time he attended an event, there would be many people watching. Therefore, the places he chose were not suitable for his friend, who was a particularly quiet person and would likely prefer more tranquil settings. You're grown up now; do I really have to remind you to eat? If you skip meals, your stomach won't feel good!"
Xu Shen replied, "What exactly are you trying to say? You can just say it directly without beating around the bush. Besides, I'm not that hungry; I don't digest food as quickly as you do. If you sat down seriously and worked hard every day, your food wouldn't get digested so fast. It's because you're not focused on your work and keep wandering around that you're hungrier than I am. But if you're hungry, I can go eat with you."
His friend responded, "What do you mean by that? And have we agreed on how we live together? I'm currently staying at your place, so whatever you do is what I do. If I order food first, wouldn't that seem impolite? I have to follow your way of living."
Xu Shen said, "If you're living according to my way, then right now I'm not very hungry at all. So this year might disappoint you in that regard. However, there's no doubt you'll be hungrier than I am. If you're hungry, just say so; there's no need to conform to my lifestyle since you'll find it uncomfortable."
His friend replied, "Let's start from tomorrow then. Today I've been in a terrible mood and unprepared. Just give me one more day to get ready; starting tomorrow, I promise I'll live like you and work seriously—definitely not like before. And I have some great news: remember my adorable little sister? She got in touch with that good friend of hers—that's the key point! Do you know who her good friend is? I only found out recently; it's a huge discovery!"
