Even Luna Li could feel her enthusiasm, a faint blush passing over her serious face.
"Then I'll trouble you with that."
Her polite yet distant demeanor made Elena even more satisfied.
"Then you sit and wait for a moment. Do you need juice or coffee? I'll have the butler prepare it."
"No, thank you."
Elena signaled desperately with her eyes to Todd to take good care of Luna Li, then hurried upstairs to find Maxim.
"Mark! Quick, you need to go downstairs."
Maxim lazily lounged on the sofa, planning to take a nap. The door was forcefully pushed open, followed by Elena shaking him vigorously without any hesitation.
He helplessly forced a smile, "Why are you more excited than Orly when you see a handsome guy, have you met your crush?"
Elena ignored his joke, successfully pulled him off the couch, and then said with a smile, "Great writer, your editor is waiting for you. I'll have Todd help you with your luggage, so you just need to walk out the door."
"What?" Maxim was suddenly wide awake.
"Luna is... at my house?!"
"Yes, and it's just downstairs," Elena kindly reminded. But then Maxim's reaction left her stunned. She saw Maxim, who had just been drowsy, panic and push her away, then rush towards the door in the opposite direction in his slippers.
Elena was a beat behind, and as soon as she stepped out of the door, she saw Maxim staring at his shoes like a child who had done something wrong, not saying a word. On her left, Luna Li had a gloomy face, holding a book in her left hand and tapping it on her right palm. "Mr. Writer, where do you want to go?"
The eerie voice is Luna Li speaking.
Elena also felt a chill down her spine and swallowed involuntarily.
"I didn't go anywhere."
Maxim has already admitted defeat as soon as he opened his mouth.
"That's good."
Glanced at by Luna, Elena subconsciously flashed a wry smile.
"Trouble, Miss Elena," Luna nodded at Elena and then glanced at her wristwatch, "The plane will start boarding in an hour. I'll give you ten minutes to pack up and come with me."
Maxim nodded in agreement.
Satisfied with the response, Luna's steps noticeably lightened.
As soon as her figure disappeared at the end of the stairs, Elena and Maxim both breathed a sigh of relief.
"So scary," Elena clicked her tongue.
"I'll go pack our bags."
Watching Maxim walk away dejectedly, Elena could only silently pray for him in her heart, hoping he wouldn't run into this editor's hands again next time. After Maxim left, only she and Gert were left at home. Since Gert hadn't returned yet, Elena suddenly felt a bit uneasy.
When Maxim was around, although she and Gert were still at odds, the atmosphere was still bearable. But now that Maxim is gone, one of them has to back down for things to turn a new leaf. What's frustrating is that both she and Gert are stubborn.
Lower your head? That's absolutely impossible. So when Gert came back, all he saw was Elena turning and walking away. Gert wasn't used to dealing with this kind of situation, so he grabbed a handful of hair, messing up his hairstyle.
"Hey, Elena!"
He hesitated for a moment, then called out to her before she went upstairs.
He wanted to apologize, he shouldn't have said those hurtful words, but when he opened his mouth, he couldn't say a single word.
Elena is feeling a bit down because of Maxim's departure, and Gert hasn't said a word for a while. In a not-so-good tone, he finally spoke up, "I'm busy, don't waste my precious time for no reason." When people are in a bad mood, they often say hurtful things that they don't really mean, hurting each other.
Elena regretted saying it as soon as the words left her mouth, but she stubbornly pretended not to care and left the scene. She knew Gert must be upset, but she felt it would hurt her pride to apologize immediately. She was torn all night.
She had dark circles under her eyes, having not slept all night. She thought she would have the chance to talk things through with Gert, but the next day she found out that Gert had gone on a business trip to Country A, and would be gone for at least a month. Todd didn't tell her any more details.
But Elena thinks it should be related to her dad's leg. Because she has recently heard Gert mentioning something about nerve repair when talking on the phone with someone.
"Osiris, is this what you meant by everything being fine?"
The elderly lady, also known as Igo, Wendy, and Osiris's grandmother, angrily tapped the table with her crutch. Since meeting Amanda that day, the old lady's temper had clearly been getting worse, even though she was still living at Wuthering manor.
"Grandmother."
"Don't call me grandmother. Do you still see me as your grandmother? How dare you hide such a big thing as divorce from me!"
Wendy was shaking with anger.
If she hadn't come back this time, I'm afraid even the time when our grandson gets married and has children with someone else would have been kept secret. "Elena, where did I do wrong to you? You should divorce her!"
