A few people exchanged glances, each wearing a look of confusion. 0

It was Officer Zhao who broke the silence first. He lowered his voice and said, "This isn't the place to talk. Let's go over there." He gestured towards a nearby staircase. 0

They pushed open the safety door of the staircase and entered one by one. 0

" uncle Zhao, how did you end up here?" Xiao Ying asked curiously. 0

Officer Zhao paused for a moment, then slowly replied, "This morning we received a report about a woman living on the tenth floor of this building who has been missing for three days. We're conducting inquiries in each unit." 0

"What are you doing here?" Before Xiao Ying could respond, Wei Jiawei eagerly interjected. 0

Xiao Ying looked up, casting him a cold glance, her tone indifferent. "Are you interrogating me? I don't have to answer, do I?" 0

"I—" Wei Jiawei was momentarily at a loss for words. For some reason, every time he encountered Xiao Ying, it felt as if he had been choked; his brain slowed down, leaving him only able to stare blankly. 0

"Let me explain." 0

Xi Yue, who had been standing behind Xiao Ying, stepped forward and spoke softly. "Actually, I dragged Xiao Ying along because last night I saw a woman being strangled through that window." 0

Even now, as she recounted it, Xi Yue still felt a chill running down her spine. 0

As soon as Xi Yue's words left her mouth, both Officer Zhao and Wei Jiawei were taken aback. 0

If it were just Xi Yue suddenly speaking up, they might have doubted her, but coincidentally, someone had gone missing in the same building. Could there be a connection between the two? 0

"You said you saw something last night? About what time?" 0

Officer Zhao's expression grew serious. With years of experience in handling cases, he had begun to sense that something unusual was hidden beneath the surface. 0

"I remember hearing the clock strike one in the night, and then it started to thunder. Not long after I saw the incident happen, it began to rain," she replied. 0

"That would place it between one and two in the morning." Officer Zhao stroked his chin, pondering for a moment. He pulled out a photograph from his pocket and held it out to Xi Yue. "This is the missing person, Fan Wei. Have you seen her?" 0

Xi Yue leaned in alongside Xiao Ying, scrutinizing the woman in the photo who smiled like a spring flower. She wasn't exceptionally beautiful, but she possessed a unique charm. 0

Xi Yue shook her head. "The distance was too far, and it was too brief. The woman had her head turned to the side; I couldn't see her face clearly." 0

Officer Zhao put the photograph away again. "In that case, let's go take a look." 0

They knocked on the door of room 605, and a tall man answered. 0

His hair was slightly long and simply tied back, appearing somewhat disheveled. His face was thin, with pale skin that suggested he rarely saw sunlight, and his narrow eyes looked somewhat vacant. 0

When he saw Officer Zhao flash his badge, his gaze flickered momentarily before he stepped aside to let them in. 0

"Is there something you need, Officer?" 0

"Are you the owner of this place? May I ask how to address you?" 0

The man nodded, "My name is Qi Fangyu." 0

"Mr. Qi, do you know a woman named Fan Wei who lives on the tenth floor?" 0

Officer Zhao asked directly. When Qi Fangyu shook his head, he took out a photo of Fan Wei. "This is Fan Wei; she went missing three days ago. Have you seen her?" 0

Qi Fangyu shook his head again, picking up the photo to examine it closely for a moment before putting it back down. "I'm not sure. Even if I have seen her, it would have been just an occasional encounter in the elevator. I don't have any impression of her." 0

"Then where were you between 1 and 2 AM last night? What were you doing?" Officer Zhao asked again. 0

Qi Fangyu paused, then showed a hint of displeasure. "Are you suspecting me? I don't even know her. Besides, hasn't she been missing for three days? Why are you asking about last night?" 0

"Mr. Qi, there's no need to be so anxious. We're just conducting routine inquiries. The security guard at the entrance saw a suspicious person coming and going last night, which is why we're asking. The police have been questioning everyone in this building all day; it's standard procedure." 0

Qi Fangyu's hand seemed to unconsciously tap lightly on the table, his long and elegant fingers making even women feel inferior. "I was at home painting." 0
