Lin Hui also turned her gaze to the painting on the wall, revealing a hint of surprise as she murmured to herself, "Why is this moved outside?"
However, she did not delve deeper into the matter. Instead, she looked at the figure in red within the painting, her expression shifting slightly as she sighed softly, seemingly lamenting, "It really is beautiful."
Xiao Ying stared at Lin Hui, feeling somewhat puzzled by her expression.
That look was neither jealousy over a husband’s affection for another woman nor simply an appreciation of the artwork before her; it was different from any reaction Xiao Ying had imagined.
"Be careful these days. I heard that a woman named Fan Wei went missing in this building a few days ago."
Xiao Ying said this seemingly casually, yet her eyes were fixed intently on Lin Hui's expression. A flicker of surprise crossed Lin Hui's face; she inhaled sharply and shook her head, feigning indifference as she replied, "I haven't heard of her. I usually don't concern myself with other people's affairs."
Despite Lin Hui's efforts to appear unconcerned, Xiao Ying keenly sensed something amiss—Lin Hui knew Fan Wei.
At that moment, the sound of a key turning caught everyone's attention.
Looking towards the sound, the door opened from the outside, but unexpectedly, it was not Qi Fangyu who entered; instead, it was a woman with curly hair.
"It's her," Wei Jiawei whispered instinctively but hesitated to explain further in front of Lin Hui. He merely pressed his lips together, his eyes revealing a hint of confusion.
The woman paused slightly upon seeing Xiao Ying and Wei Jiawei sitting in the living room, as if surprised to find others there. She then regarded Lin Hui with a measure of caution and asked, "Hui, who are they?"
"Xiaoxi, you're here," Lin Hui approached the woman calmly and explained, "It's nothing; they are here looking for Fangyu."
"Oh," Xiao Xi replied, seemingly uninterested in Qi Fangyu's situation. She took Lin Hui's hand and said softly, "Why did you come back later than expected? You must be tired."
Lin Hui smiled slightly. "I got delayed by a day, but as soon as I finished, I rushed back."
Seeing the two of them chatting as if no one else was around, Xiao Ying and Wei Jiawei stood up. "We'll head back for now. We'll come to see the painting another day."
Lin Hui nodded, and the two bid farewell as they stepped outside.
"That woman is the one I saw frequently coming in and out of the Qi Family in the neighborhood surveillance footage," Wei Jiawei said eagerly as they walked a short distance away, quickening his pace. "But what's strange is that I've never seen her appear with Qi Fangyu; she always comes and goes with Lin Hui."
"I've already thought of that," Xiao Ying said, furrowing her brow as she pondered. This woman named Xiao Xi seemed to be a close friend of Lin Hui's, someone trusted enough to be given a key to her home.
However, if she had a key, didn't that add to her suspicion?
"It looks like we need to investigate this Xiao Xi when we get back," Wei Jiawei continued, his tone laced with urgency.
"There's no rush on that," Xiao Ying said, grabbing Wei Jiawei's arm just as he was about to leave. A hint of mystery flickered in her eyes. "We have other matters to attend to first."
"What matters?" Wei Jiawei asked, confusion written all over his face.
Xiao Ying blinked and smiled playfully, "Did you forget why we came here?"
"Are you talking about finding Qi Fangyu?"
"Exactly." Xiao Ying nodded, her expression turning serious. "If these people are all suspects, we need to take advantage of the fact that they haven't met yet to gather useful information."
"What do you want to ask Qi Fangyu?"
Xiao Ying smiled and patted Wei Jiawei, "Who knows? We'll have the answer soon."
