Gao Huan's father was a well-known importer of luxury cars in the city, and her mother had once been a formidable figure in the business world. In contrast, Lu Ming's parents were merely small appliance dealers, and they had recently gone bankrupt.
Gao Huan's parents strongly opposed their relationship and even planned to send their daughter to study in the UK. To prevent them from seeing each other, Gao Huan's parents went so far as to approach Lu Ming's parents, offering them a substantial sum of money to help them through their financial troubles, on the condition that Lu Ming would leave Gao Huan. They even promised to send Lu Ming to study in Australia.
It seemed that Gao Huan's parents were truly willing to spend a fortune to ensure the couple's separation.
Of course, how could two young lovers, deeply infatuated with each other, be easily deterred by money and family? The more obstacles they faced, the more passionately Gao Huan and Lu Ming loved one another.
Rumor had it that they were even planning to elope. But on December 21st, just a day ago, Lu Ming disappeared.
Gao Huan was beside herself with grief, spending her days clutching a vase and insisting that Lu Ming was hidden inside it.
She recalled seeing Lu Ming being violently knocked to the ground. Then, the assailant pulled out a pristine white vase from behind and bizarrely pointed its opening at him.
She wanted to rush over and pull Lu Ming away but found herself paralyzed on the ground, unable to move or even cry out.
Danger loomed closer with each passing moment.
The assailant leaned down, gently caressing Lu Ming's face.
Wearing a hood, she couldn't see the assailant's features clearly but caught a glimpse of a contemptuous smile curling at the corners of their mouth.
She recognized that face and knew she would never forget it for the rest of her life.
Lu Ming truly fainted, unable to awaken no matter how the murderer caressed him before his eyes.
"Run! Run!" Gao Huan shouted repeatedly in her mind, but her voice remained stuck in her throat, echoing in a low murmur. She felt like a whispering monster. Regret and painful tears flowed freely down her face.
Strangely, she saw Lu Ming's face begin to melt beneath the mouth of the vase, along with his entire body.
Then, astonishingly, he was drawn into the vase, his entire being soft and limp.
Soon, nothing remained on the ground. The murderer set down the vase and let out a chilling laugh.
"Lu! Don't go, don't go!" Gao Huan clutched the vase tightly to her chest.
Classmates who shared a dorm with Lu Ming confirmed that on December 21st at noon, they heard him happily calling Gao Huan, inviting her out on a date.
Lu Ming left at 2 PM, having spoken to Gao Huan just before he went out; after that, no one saw him again.
According to Gao Huan's mother, Cao Xilan, when she returned home at 4:30 PM, she found Gao Huan dazedly holding the vase and refusing to let go.
After much questioning, she finally muttered that Lu Ming was inside the vase and no one was allowed to take it away.
Gao Huan's father, Gao Yuanqian, had gone out for a round of golf with his bodyguard after lunch. He rushed back immediately upon receiving Cao Xilan's call at 4:40 PM.
Meanwhile, Cao Xilan had arranged to meet Lu Ming's father, Lu Kao, at Shuifang Teahouse for negotiations; they arrived at the teahouse around 2 PM.
Cao Xilan took a moment to look at Gao Huan before leaving, as Gao Huan had been feeling under the weather lately. She specifically reminded her to close the doors and windows properly and not to wander around.
Cao Xilan left around 1:50 PM. The the Gao Family's villa had security measures in place, making it difficult for anyone other than family members to enter.
This meant that between 2 PM and 4 PM on December 21, the only person present at the the Gao Family home was Gao Huan.
Due to Gao Huan's erratic behavior, it was impossible to determine what exactly happened that afternoon.
From what could be inferred, Lu Ming left the university at 2 PM and likely arrived at the the Gao Family home, where he was let in by Gao Huan. However, what followed was beyond comprehension—Lu Ming vanished, and Gao Huan claimed he had jumped into a vase.
No one knew where Lu Ming had actually gone.
