Wang Yao looked puzzled. 0

"Xiang Qian, what on earth are you talking about?" 0

"Think carefully," I urged, my tone growing more serious. 0

"Mengfan is..." 0

I turned to search for the spot where Yang Mengfan had just fought the goat. 0

There should have been large pools of blood on the ground, and even some of Yang Mengfan's belongings scattered about, but everything around us was completely clean, as if nothing had ever happened. 0

How could this be possible? 0

I rubbed my eyes in disbelief, questioning whether I was experiencing a hallucination. 0

Had that thrilling battle just been a dream? 0

Yet, I distinctly remembered Yang Mengfan charging at that goat without a second thought to protect me. 0

And that goat—its sharp horns and fierce gaze were etched in my memory. 0

I could still feel the rush of wind as the goat charged towards me, brushing against my face and sending chills down my spine. 0

"Mengfan! Mengfan!" 0

I shouted Yang Mengfan's name loudly, hoping he would respond and tell me that this was all just a nightmare. 0

There was no answer, only an endless silence that seemed to mock my helplessness and despair. 0

My heart sank, a chill creeping up from my feet to the top of my head, making me shiver involuntarily. 0

"Alright, Xiang Qian, please stop running around at this hour. It's really frightening," Wang Yao said softly, patting my shoulder in an attempt to calm me down. 0

"Let's head back to the camp, okay?" 0

I nodded blankly, allowing Wang Yao to pull me along as we walked step by step toward the direction of the tent. 0

My mind was a whirlwind of confusion, various thoughts intertwining and making it impossible for me to think clearly. 0

I kept asking myself where Yang Mengfan could have gone. 0

Had something truly happened to him? 0

Not far away, our guide Brother Wang was bent over, his rough hands tightly gripping the Climbing Rope. He was breathing heavily. 0

Brother Wang straightened up and walked over to me. In the dim light of the headlamp, I could see his furrowed brow and bloodshot eyes. 0

"Little sister, what on earth are you doing? It's the middle of the night; you can't just run out here and scare people!" 0

His voice was deep and hoarse, tinged with a hint of suppressed anger. 0

"Brother Wang, I... I..." 0

I stammered, unsure of how to explain myself. 0

"Do you realize how dangerous this is? If you fall and get hurt, it won't be a joke! I could lose my job over this!" 0

Brother Wang's voice grew louder, filled with reproach as he pointed at the steep mountain wall behind us. 0

"Brother Wang, I'm sorry. I... I had a nightmare," I said softly, my voice trembling. 0

"A nightmare? A nightmare shouldn't scare you this much! Look at you, your face is as pale as paper, and you're shaking all over." 0

"Alright, Brother Wang, she's already so frightened. Let's not blame her anymore," Wang Yao interjected, trying to mediate. 0

"I’m just saying she didn’t mention it. Our team has a schedule for night watch. If something happens, come to us first, alright? You’re just an ordinary tourist; coming here on your own was already against the rules, and now you want to cause trouble!" 0

Wang Yao stepped back awkwardly and scratched his head with a sheepish smile. 0

Brother Wang sighed, his tone softening a bit. 0

"Hey, you need to be careful in places like this. Getting lost in the snow-capped mountains is no joke." 0

He patted my shoulder gently. 0

"Alright, let’s head back and get some sleep. We have a long journey ahead tomorrow." 0

I nodded and followed Brother Wang back. The wind and snow continued to howl around us. 0

I glanced back, my heart still filled with unease. Was it really just a nightmare I had? 0

Upon returning to the camp, I saw several members of the expedition emerging from their tents, looking concerned and asking if I was hurt. 0

I could only respond vaguely while my mind lingered on what had just happened. 0

Seeing that everyone from the group was in the camp made me wonder if the absence of anyone earlier had been a figment of my imagination. 0

Could it be that everything I experienced was merely a bad dream? 0

I pinched my thigh hard, feeling a sharp pain; this was undeniably real! 0

But if all of this was true, then where had everyone in the camp gone? 0

Why hadn't I seen anyone before? 0

Yang Mengfan hadn’t come out; was he still inside his tent? 0

Brother Wang patted my shoulder, his eyes filled with concern. 0

"Don't be afraid, okay? Just get some rest," he said, pausing before adding, "How about this? Let Wang Yao sleep with you to keep you company. What do you think?" 0

Wang Yao smiled as she took my hand and said, "Let's go to the tent and chat." 0

She led me into the tent that I shared with Yang Mengfan. 0

However, an unsettling feeling began to creep into my heart like a vine. 0

Where was Yang Mengfan? Why wasn't he here? Had something happened to him? 0

I grasped Wang Yao's hand tightly and asked urgently, "Wang Yao, have you seen Yang Mengfan? Where did he go?" 0

My voice trembled slightly with anxiety, and Wang Yao looked at me, a hint of confusion flashing in her eyes. 0

"Yang Mengfan? Xiang Qian, I actually wanted to ask you the same thing. Who is this Yang Mengfan you mentioned?" 0

Wang Yao's words struck me like a thunderclap in my mind. 0
