"Sister Xian?"
"Sister Xian?"
The two spoke in unison, and then Huangpu River rushed out ahead of Wang Daguo, excitement written all over her face as she directly embraced Su Mingxian.
"Sister Xian, it's really you! This is amazing! I thought I would never see you again," Huangpu River exclaimed, growing more animated. "That guy Shen didn’t bully you, did he? Sister Xian, if he dares to bully you, I’ll—"
"What will you do? Roll your eyes at him until he drops dead? Or use those pretty eyes of yours to charm him?" Su Mingxian teased, while Huangpu River awkwardly replied, "I—I have strong fists too."
Su Mingxian pulled her down from her embrace and rolled her eyes. "He’s a soldier; back in the day, he was unbeatable in the army. Are you sure you want to challenge him to a fistfight?"
"Really? He's that strong?" Huangpu River looked astonished. "Then why isn’t he still in the army?"
Su Mingxian paused for a moment. "How would I know? You’re asking me like I have all the answers."
After saying that, she shot Huangpu River an annoyed glance.
The truth was, she had no idea, and Shen Chi was quite secretive about it. He kept everything locked away in his heart, and outsiders couldn’t pry even a bit.
At first, she tried to dig for information, but after Shen Chi found out and sternly reprimanded her, she lost interest and didn’t bother anymore.
Having said all this, Su Mingxian pushed Huangpu River aside and entered the office. As she looked up, she saw Wang Daguo in disheveled attire and disdainfully remarked, "Did you go out stealing chickens last night?"
“Pfft—”
Huangpu River couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Wang Daguo shot him a fierce glare and turned to Su Mingxian with a look of grievance, saying, “Sister Xian, I—”
“Alright, no need to explain.” She sat down in her chair and asked, “Is everything alright while I was away these past few days?”
Wang Daguo replied sullenly, “Everything is fine, but the profits have decreased compared to before.”
“How much less?” Su Mingxian frowned. “What’s the reason?”
Wang Daguo exchanged a glance with Huangpu River. “About one-fifth less, and we’re still investigating the cause.”
“One-fifth? That’s quite a lot!” She immediately picked up the ledger, while Wang Daguo cautiously added, “It might be because some people are following trends lately, so—”
Su Mingxian shook her head. “I’ve noticed that the inventory has decreased overall. Aside from Xiu Cai, everything else is dwindling.”
“A Jiang, stop pestering Xiao Wang. You take charge of investigating this matter.” She closed the ledger and continued, “The method for making Liangpi is simple; the ingredients and seasonings can be learned quickly. It’s easy to tamper with them. The only competitive edge our Liangpi has over others in the market is our secret chili oil.”
“Exactly! Many loyal customers come back to buy our Liangpi and say the same thing.” Huangpu River chimed in eagerly, “The Liangpi served cold is chewy and refreshing, especially in summer; it’s perfect for beating the heat. But ordinary chili oil doesn’t have much flavor; only our chili oil clings to the Liangpi and gives it a kick.”
Su Mingxian nodded in satisfaction after hearing this. “A Jiang is right; your observation skills are impressive.”
The praise came unexpectedly, and Huangpu River immediately felt his face flush with embarrassment. He scratched his head and said shyly, "Oh, it's just a small matter, as Xiu Cai mentioned."
"Xiu Cai?" Su Mingxian looked at him in surprise, and Huangpu River's smile froze on his face. At that moment, he regretted it so much that he wished he could slap himself.
How could he mention another man in front of Sister Xian? He had made such a rookie mistake.
Su Mingxian twitched her lips, too lazy to deal with this drama queen. Instead, she turned to Wang Daguo and asked, "How much money do we have left in the factory?"
Wang Daguo was about to speak when Huangpu River jumped in with the answer, "There’s fifteen thousand three hundred sixty-eight dollars and twenty cents."
Su Mingxian: ...
"How do you know that so clearly?"
