National Day. 0

Tonight, Nanhua High School is holding the National Day Celebration Performance. As a member of the student council, Wang Yuhan was sent early in the morning to Han Zheng Street to purchase items needed for the event. By the time he returned to school, it was already late, and the once lush trees on campus were shrouded in a heavy twilight. 0

He pulled out his phone from his pocket and glanced at the time displayed on the screen, feeling anxious. Standing alone on the empty playground, he cursed under his breath, "That damn guy still hasn't shown up. The show is about to start! If I miss my chance to go on stage and present flowers to my goddess, I swear I'll make him pay." 0

Presenting flowers might seem like a trivial matter to most people, but given that the recipient was Li Lingfei—his childhood friend whom he had never dared to confess his feelings for—the situation was entirely different. 0

Li Lingfei was no ordinary girl. She had started learning piano at the age of three and won first place in the National Youth Piano Competition at ten. With her excellent character and looks, she naturally became the school beauty upon entering Nanhua High School. Many boys pursued her, and Wang Yuhan was just one among many. 0

Standing under the moonlit sky on the playground, his mood was far from serene. The anxious waiting only fueled his rising anger. Just as he was about to explode with frustration, a familiar laugh drifted towards him from behind. He turned around sharply, and there stood Yang Qianfan—the very guy he had been waiting for. 0

"What took you so long? Why are you so late?" Wang Yuhan glared at him and shouted explosively. 0

"Sorry, sorry... One of my younger brothers got into trouble today, so I took a bunch of guys to back him up. That's why I'm late," Yang Qianfan replied nonchalantly, still smiling as if nothing were amiss. 0

"With that smug look on your face, I bet that guy got taught a harsh lesson." 0

"Not too bad, really. Just gave him a few good punches until he spat out some blood—nothing too serious; he's not dead." 0

"Spitting blood is just 'nothing too serious'? What if you had killed him?" 0

"That's easy enough! Just open the fridge door, toss his sorry self inside, and close it up with a tombstone reading 'Quality over Quantity,'" Yang Qianfan joked, sticking out his tongue playfully. 0

Wang Yuhan stared at him in silence for a while, feeling somewhat helpless in the face of this guy who only knew how to act cool, show off, and was always ready to fight. Finally, she simply turned away, too lazy to deal with him. 0

When they arrived at the venue, the program had not yet started. The hall was packed with people, and the better seats had already been taken. Wang Yuhan and Yang Qianfan weaved through the dimly lit aisles, their eyes scanning for available spots. However, since they arrived too late, even the seats in the back had become a luxury, leaving no room for them. 0

They wandered around the venue for a while without any luck. Yang Qianfan was losing patience with Wang Yuhan's aimless search. He glanced around and suddenly spotted a few earnest students sitting in a prime location at the center of the hall, chatting and laughing. A sly smile crept onto his face as he felt confident about his target. He strode over confidently and casually patted one of the male students on the shoulder, saying in a rather rude tone, “Get up, I’m sitting here.” 0

The male student looked up and upon seeing Yang Qianfan, his heart leaped into his throat. He gaped in shock, his face turning as pale as snow. He immediately got up and hurriedly left with his friends. 0

As soon as Yang Qianfan sat down, the other students beside him also got up one after another to leave their seats. They would rather stand at the back of the hall than sit next to this intimidating delinquent. Before long, the entire row was empty except for Yang Qianfan, who sat comfortably humming a tune. 0

Not long after, Wang Yuhan returned from another fruitless search. She saw Yang Qianfan lounging with his legs crossed, enjoying himself in a corner and couldn't help but feel tempted to join him. 0

“What’s wrong? Still can’t find a seat? You’re really pathetic!” Yang Qianfan said with a smug grin as he lazily patted the empty seat beside him like a boss. “Want to sit here with me?” 0

Wang Yuhan had that thought too but pretended to be aloof. She scoffed and teased, “I really can’t help it; it seems I’m the only one brave enough to sit next to you, the problem student.” 0

“Hey, what do you mean? Am I like a tiger or something? Did I scare them away?” 0

“Isn’t that right?” Wang Yuhan deliberately provoked him, pretending to shiver. “I just hope others don’t associate me with you.” 0

“What? ‘Birds of a feather flock together’? I don’t want to be associated with you, Sophisticated Delinquent!” Yang Qianfan shot back angrily, rising from his seat to call over several boys from the back row to sit with him in front. He boasted, “See? I’m much friendlier than a tiger!” 0

“Yeah, your friendliness can only be compared to that of a tiger,” Wang Yuhan laughed again, still unconvinced by his bravado. 0

“Hey, have you borrowed a lot of money from that damn unlucky former president in Taiwan recently?” 0

“Yeah, but I only owe money, not him.” Wang Yuhan replied, raising an eyebrow and giving him a mischievous smile, with mockery dancing in his gaze. 0

“You...” Yang Qianfan had intended to play clever and set up a punchline about owing him, but he didn’t expect Wang to get ahead of him. With the setup lost its suspense, the follow-up felt like a dull afterthought, lacking any excitement. So he simply fell silent, choosing not to say anything further. 0
