Chapter 5: Unless You Die
The morning sunlight streamed through the window, gently illuminating Qin Xi's face on the large bed, casting a warm, golden hue.
She lay there quietly, her complexion slightly improved from before, though still pale and bloodless. Her delicate brows were slightly furrowed, and her thin lips were tightly pressed together, as if she remained restless even in her dreams.
Mu Jinhang stood by the bed, staring at her for a long time. Yet, there was still no sign of Qin Xi waking up, which stirred a sense of irritation within him.
It had been three full days since she fainted in the heavy rain.
The doctor had said she had lost too much blood and was too weak to endure any further distress.
Mu Jinhang did not believe it.
This woman had been tenacious when entangled with him, like an indomitable warrior who stubbornly appeared by his side time and again, explaining her relationship with Ji Li, insisting that Qin Zhiruo had framed her.
But he had witnessed those two tangled together in a hotel room, their clothes disheveled. Afterwards, Qin Xi had even undergone a hymen examination, which confirmed that her membrane was no longer intact.
She had the audacity to argue that it had been torn during a fall while running.
Full of lies and slandering Qin Zhiruo—she truly deserved to be punished!
Yet seeing Qin Xi lying lifelessly on the bed, on the verge of death, Mu Jinhang felt no sense of vindictive pleasure. Instead, he was filled with anger and a fear he had deliberately chosen to ignore, along with a sense of helplessness.
No, he could not possibly have any lingering feelings for this woman!
It must be because he hasn't gotten his revenge yet, which is why he doesn't want her to die so soon!
It has to be that way!
The one he likes now is Qin Zhiruo, the obedient, kind-hearted, and devoted Qin Zhiruo, not this treacherous woman who betrayed him!
Mu Jinhang clenched his fists tightly and slammed them against the wall. A sharp pain shot through his knuckles, leaving traces of blood on the wall.
“Hmm—” Qin Xi, lying on the bed, suddenly groaned, as if she was waking up.
“Qin Xi, wake up!” Mu Jinhang, ignoring the pain in his hand, forcefully pinched Qin Xi's face. His voice carried a hint of joy that even he was unaware of.
Qin Xi winced in pain and opened her eyes. Upon seeing Mu Jinhang's handsome yet cold face, a sharp pain pierced through her chest.
She tried hard to act indifferent and asked with a detached tone, “Where is this?”
“My home.” Mu Jinhang felt a slight sense of relief at her waking up, but her cold attitude ignited a surge of anger within him. He couldn't help but sneer, “I didn't expect you to be so resilient that you're still alive!”
“Well, you must be very disappointed,” Qin Xi retorted defiantly, glaring at him. “Mu Jinhang, why did you bring me to your house? Oh, are you going to show me how you and Qin Zhiruo flaunt your love?”
As she weakly sat up and tried to throw off the covers to get out of bed, Mu Jinhang grabbed her arm and pushed her back down.
“Sign this.” Mu Jinhang pulled out a contract from the drawer and coldly tossed it in front of Qin Xi. “Once you sign it, you can immediately roll out of my house. I find you disgusting!”
The contract required her to serve as a living blood bank for Qin Zhiruo.
Qin Xi scoffed coldly, “Mu Jinhang, aren’t you afraid my blood is tainted?”
“Sign it!” Mu Jinhang thrust the pen into her hand with an unyielding tone, devoid of any room for negotiation.
“Impossible!” Qin Xi threw the pen away, gripping the bedsheet tightly to hide her vulnerability from Mu Jinhang. “You want me to supply blood to Qin Zhiruo for the rest of my life? That’s only if you break up with her and never see each other again!”
Back then, Qin Zhiruo had caused her breakup with Mu Jinhang, and now she wanted that hypocritical and malicious woman to taste the bitterness of her own actions.
“Very well!” Mu Jinhang looked down at her with an arrogant and indifferent expression. “Then you can stay here. You’ll leave only when you sign.”
He paused for a moment, a strange smile curling his thin lips as he leaned closer to Qin Xi’s ear, cruelly whispering, “Unless you die!”
Qin Xi froze in place.
This man actually intended to keep her under house arrest!
