Chapter 16: You Are Not Allowed to Die
The night was cool as water, and the Mu Family Villa was brightly lit.
“Mu Jinhang, put me down!” Qin Xi protested, feeling uncomfortable as her soft belly pressed against his shoulder. She struggled, hitting his back with her hands.
Mu Jinhang remained unfazed, carrying her up to the second floor and opening the third room.
This was the room where Qin Xi had stayed five years ago. Over the years, it had been cleaned by servants, leaving it spotless, with all the furnishings unchanged.
“Do you like it?” Mu Jinhang forcibly brought her to the table, where a bouquet of pure white roses stood. “I remember you loved white roses the most…”
“I don’t like it! I don’t like it at all!” Qin Xi struggled in his embrace, feeling a deep sense of distress. “Mu Jinhang, we have nothing to do with each other anymore. Why won’t you just let me go?”
“Let you go? Then who will let me go?” Mu Jinhang turned her shoulder sharply, his dark eyes hiding a deep pain.
Qin Xi stared at him in confusion, unable to discern what he truly meant.
Did he like her?
No, that was impossible. Five years ago, he had said with such disdain, “Qin Xi, you make me sick!”
Even now, recalling those words brought a sharp pain to her heart.
“Are you still thinking about getting revenge on me?” Qin Xi's voice trembled with barely contained emotion. “It’s been five years! Mu Jinhang, I couldn’t dare to return home, couldn’t let you know I was still alive. I never expected you wouldn’t let me go! Am I really that detestable to you? Do you need me to die in that earthquake for you to be happy...”
“Shut up! Don’t you dare say that word!” Mu Jinhang interrupted her with a fierce growl, tightening his arms around her as if he could feel her existence through the pressure.
Qin Xi was held so tightly that she could barely breathe, her face turning a deep shade of red.
She struggled to lift her head, wanting him to release her, but suddenly felt a searing kiss crash down on her lips, silencing all her words.
For some reason, she felt that this kiss was laced with fear, pain, and an overwhelming sense of possession.
“Y-You... let go of me!” Qin Xi protested, biting down hard on Mu Jinhang's lip in her struggle.
He released her with a pained expression, his eyes burning with rage. “You don’t want me to touch you?”
Qin Xi stubbornly turned her head away. “It’s over between us! I have a husband and a child; you have a fiancée. Please, Mr. Mu, have some self-respect!”
“Self-respect? In your dreams!” Mu Jinhang was enraged by her mention of a husband and child, jealousy clawing at his heart. “Qin Xi, you think you can be with Ji Li while leaving me to suffer alone? That’s absolutely impossible!”
“What do you want?” Qin Xi asked warily, staring at him.
Without answering, Mu Jinhang swept Qin Xi off her feet and carried her toward the bed.
Realizing his intentions, she panicked and jumped up when he threw her onto the bed. She scrambled toward the door but was yanked back forcefully by Mu Jinhang!
“Ji Li can touch you, so why can't I?” Mu Jinhang's voice was filled with madness, his handsome face twisted with emotion.
He was jealous of Ji Li for being with her for five years, jealous that Ji Li had a child with her, and even jealous of his past self for having such beautiful moments with her...
“Mu Jinhang, you can't act like this! You can't treat me this way!” Qin Xi shook her head in anguish.
She recalled that day five years ago when he had taken her so coldly and ruthlessly.
Now, facing a similar situation again, she vowed not to let Mu Jinhang succeed!
Qin Xi didn't know where she found the strength, but she pushed Mu Jinhang away and ran frantically toward the balcony. By the time she realized something was wrong, Mu Jinhang was right behind her.
With gritted teeth, she jumped off the balcony!
