Chapter 7: You Are So Heartless to Me
Mu Jinhang had just undergone a craniotomy, and his body was still very weak. If he hadn’t faintly heard Mu Laoyezai’s words in the hospital room earlier, he wouldn’t have forced himself to come out.
After Mu Laoyezai spoke, it seemed as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. His handsome features appeared even more pale and indifferent, with his brows tightly knitted together. The usually strong man looked incredibly fragile in Qin Xi's eyes, making her heart ache uncontrollably.
During the observation period, Mu Laoyezai did not allow anyone to visit Mu Jinhang casually. Qin Zhiruo had come five or six times but was blocked by bodyguards at the door. Only Qin Xi was permitted to visit Mu Jinhang every evening.
Qin Zhiruo was furious and gritted her teeth but felt helpless.
A week later, Mu Jinhang safely passed the critical period after surgery, and the doctor confirmed that there would be no lasting effects.
Qin Xi finally felt relieved, and Mu Jinhang also had the energy to deal with the aftermath of the car accident.
That morning, Qin Zhiruo suddenly received a call from Mu Jinhang's secretary, asking her to come to the hospital.
"I knew Mu Jinhang still liked me," Qin Zhiruo thought happily as she quickly dressed up, looking even more beautiful and charming.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Qin Zhiruo pushed open the ward door and immediately saw the elders of the Mu family along with her own parents in the room; even Qin Xi was there.
Qin Zhiruo sensed something was off but didn’t dwell on it. Instead, she turned to Mu Jinhang and said, "Mu Jinhang, why is my sister still here? If it weren't for her, you wouldn't have been injured..."
"This car accident was planned by you. What does it have to do with Qin Xi?" Mu Jinhang coldly stared at her.
Qin Zhiruo's smile froze. "Mu Jinhang, what are you talking about? Do you suspect that I had the driver run someone over?"
"Our Qin Zhiruo is so kind-hearted that she wouldn't even harm a fish. How could she do something like this?" Qin Madam stood up, visibly displeased. "Mu Jinhang, even if you don't like Qin Zhiruo, you can't slander her. This kind of accusation requires evidence!"
Mu Jinhang sneered and turned to his bodyguard. "Bring in that driver."
Soon, the bodyguard dragged in a middle-aged man—the driver of the heavy truck!
Qin Zhiruo's expression changed upon seeing him. Although she quickly masked her reaction, Mu Jinhang still caught it with his keen eyes.
"She instructed me to run someone over!" The driver, unable to meet the cold gaze of Mu Jinhang, pointed at Qin Zhiruo and shouted, "I have recordings as proof! This is my first time doing something like this, and I was really scared. If it weren't for my urgent need for money, I wouldn't have dared... Sir, I didn't want to do this; please don't send me to jail!"
"You’re lying!" Qin Zhiruo's face twisted in anger. "Mu Jinhang, this must be a scheme orchestrated by Qin Xi to gain your sympathy!"
The driver quickly shook his head. "I'm not lying! Everything I said is true; this is the recording! I was so scared at the time that I deliberately recorded her instructing me to run someone over. I am definitely not lying!"
The recording from the driver's phone was soon played back, and everyone in the hospital room clearly heard Qin Zhiruo's vicious voice: "Don't worry; I've already sent someone to keep an eye on them. Just follow my instructions and run into them..."
Thud!
Qin Zhiruo's face turned pale as she collapsed onto the floor. Qin Madam never expected her daughter would plan a hit-and-run; this was a crime that could lead to imprisonment!
Qin Xi clenched her fists tightly as she looked at her blood relatives in the Qin Family—one was her father, and the other was her sister. In the end, neither of them cared for her at all and even plotted to harm her!
Qin Xi felt a chill in her heart; she never wanted to see these people again.
As if sensing her thoughts, Mu Jinhang coldly instructed his bodyguard, "Take Qin Zhiruo and the driver to the police station!"
