Chapter 1: You're Crazy
"Is your leg better?" Qin Xi looked at his right leg with joy, about to ask when it had healed, but in the next moment, she suddenly realized something.
How could Mu Jinhang's leg have suddenly gotten better? The doctor had clearly said it would take some time for him to recover enough to walk.
"You lied to me!" Qin Xi felt as if she had been played, a wave of anger surging within her. "Mu Jinhang, is it fun to trick me like this? You can walk now, and you conspired with the doctor to deceive me, making me look like a fool!"
She turned to leave.
Mu Jinhang, unable to focus on his overseas business call with the president of a foreign group, immediately chased after her and grabbed her hand.
"Where are you going? Are you really leaving?" Mu Jinhang held onto Qin Xi's hand tightly, his dark eyes fixed on her, afraid of missing any expression on her face.
But Qin Xi couldn't be bothered to hide her feelings from him. "Yes, I'm taking Ning Bao and leaving! Mu Jinhang, I won't give you another chance to deceive me!"
"You're not allowed to go!"
"You promised that once you were healed, you'd let me go!"
"I've changed my mind." Mu Jinhang tightened his grip on her hand even more, his dark eyes swirling with turbulent emotions.
Qin Xi glared at him, her eyes gradually reddening. Then she pressed her lips together and silently struggled, using her other hand to pry Mu Jinhang's fingers apart.
Bang!
Mu Jinhang suddenly pushed her against the wall, his cold lips sealing hers forcefully. His tongue invaded her mouth, prying open her teeth as he launched an aggressive assault.
“Y-You... ugh!” Qin Xi sobbed and struggled, a low cry escaping her throat.
Mu Jinhang's eyes flashed with pain as he released her.
“You promised me,” Qin Xi choked out, tears welling in her eyes. “Mu Jinhang, you can’t go back on your word!”
Suddenly, Mu Jinhang grasped her hand and pulled a sparkling object from his pocket, sliding it onto her ring finger.
Qin Xi felt a chill run through her finger and looked down to find the diamond ring she had thrown into the pool earlier.
“Why did you lie to me about not losing the ring? You couldn’t bear to see me searching for it in the pool. You care about me,” Mu Jinhang's voice was urgent, as if he was trying desperately to prove Qin Xi's feelings for him. “Qin Xi, how can I let you go like this?”
“No, you’re wrong. I just didn’t want the servants to have to search for so long…”
“You're lying!”
“Let go of me! Mu Jinhang, I’m leaving Ning Cheng with Ning Bao. I won’t come back again. This is what you promised me; you can’t deceive me anymore!”
Mu Jinhang stared at her intently.
After a long silence, he asked hoarsely, “As long as my injury isn’t healed, you won’t leave, will you?”
Qin Xi met Mu Jinhang’s dark gaze and suddenly felt an ominous premonition rise within her.
“I...”
“Bang!”
Mu Jinhang suddenly grabbed a nearby chair and slammed it against his right leg, causing immediate pain that drained the color from his face and made cold sweat pour down. Yet, his dark eyes remained fixed on Qin Xi, terrified that if he blinked, she would disappear.
“Mu Jinhang, you’re insane…” Qin Xi covered her mouth as tears streamed down her face.
Mu Jinhang held her tightly. “This way, you can’t leave.”
In the middle of the night, the villa was brightly lit.
The doctor had heard about the entanglement between Mu Jinhang and Qin Xi. He didn’t inquire about the sudden re-injury of Mu Jinhang’s leg, which had already healed; instead, he gave a meaningful glance at Qin Xi and said, “Mr. Mu, if you continue like this, you’ll lose that leg for good.”
Mu Jinhang replied calmly, “If it means keeping the person I love, what’s losing a leg?”
Qin Xi suddenly looked up at him, disbelief written all over her face.
In that moment, her heart trembled violently.
