Jiang Yu had not been to the company these days; he stayed with me every day, cooking for me. The topics he brought up were always about our past. I didn't know what he meant by that. Perhaps it was to make me suffer, because the "us" now was worlds apart from the "us" before. 0

Recently, I kept dreaming about the past. I remembered how much I loved strawberry cake back then, but it was too expensive, and I could never bring myself to buy it. So every time we passed by a shop window, I would pull Jiang Yu and say, "Jiang Yu, look, that one is so beautiful!" 0

Jiang Yu would always smile and nod, "Yes, very beautiful." 0

"Xiao Mei, I'll buy it for you when your birthday comes." 0

But before my birthday arrived, Jiang Yu had already bought it. He saved up half a semester's worth of money and confessed to me at school, only to be caught by my teacher. The incident caused quite a stir; many people at school found out. We got scolded by the teacher, yet he just kept grinning like an idiot. 0

I asked him, "What are you so happy about?" 0

Jiang Yu took my hand and said, "Xiao Mei, when I have money..." 0

"I'll buy you lots and lots of strawberry cakes." 0

Looking at Jiang Yu made my heart feel sweet. I believed he would definitely become wealthy; we would have a better future together. But now... 0

"Xiao Mei." 0

Jiang Yu's voice echoed in my ear. 0

I suddenly came to my senses, realizing I had fallen asleep without knowing when. Jiang Yu was squatting in front of me, quietly watching me. I hurriedly averted my gaze. 0

"I'm getting married in a few days," he said. 0

A pang of pain shot through my heart. I knew this wedding represented all the hopes I once had for the future. But now... 0

I lowered my eyes, my voice weak. "Oh, then... may you have many children." 0

Jiang Yu stared at me, his gaze scrutinizing. After a moment, he smiled. 0

I was taken aback, staring blankly at Jiang Yu. He lowered his head, looking at me with an emotion I couldn't comprehend. 0

"Why is it that you can easily start a relationship and just as easily end it when you grow tired of it?" 0

"Su Mei, tell me, why?" 0

I stared at Jiang Yu, unsure of what to say. I felt exhausted. 0

"Jiang Yu, just let me go." 0

Jiang Yu looked at me for a long time before he finally chuckled softly. He reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear and said gently, "Su Mei, you know that I want you to pay the price." 0

I closed my eyes as tears slipped from the corners. 0

"Then let me die." 0

"Jiang Yu, can I just die?" 0

Jiang Yu's gaze bore into me, and his smile gradually faded. He grasped my chin firmly, forcing me to look up at him. 0

"Su Mei, do you want to die right now?" 0
"Then why didn't you die back then?!" 0

It was Jiang Yu's wedding day. 0
But suddenly, Jiang Heng burst into Jiang Yu's house to confront me. 0
"Su Mei, what exactly did you say to my cousin?" 0
"Why did he cancel his engagement with Yu Tian?" 0
"You two broke up before; now that he's getting married, why can't you just let him go?" 0

I stared at Jiang Heng, momentarily at a loss for words. 0
Jiang Yu called off the wedding? 0
But... how could it be because of me? 0

"Say something!" 0
Jiang Heng rushed forward and grabbed me by the arm. 0
"Su Mei, do you even have a heart?" 0
"My cousin treated you so well back then; why did you abandon him?" 0
"If you hadn't left back then, how could things have come to this?!" 0

I stood there in a daze, murmuring, "I... I don't know..." 0
I truly didn't know. 0
Jiang Yu had never mentioned any of this to me. 0
I had no idea why he would cancel the wedding. 0

Looking at Jiang Heng, his face was filled with anger, completely devoid of the obedient demeanor he once had. 0
