I lowered my gaze and whispered, "I'm sorry, I..."

I blended into the crowd, quietly watching Jiang Yu. The panic and anxiety on his face made my heart ache. He used to be so full of life.

But just then, Yu Tian’s best friend pulled out a photo. It was of Jiang Yu and me, captured in a kiss. The moment the photo surfaced, gasps filled the air. I had completely become the other woman in everyone’s eyes.
Amidst the chorus of insults, I noticed Jiang Yu’s face turn pale. At that moment, more revelations about my past began to surface.
“This Su Mei, I heard her father gambled away the family fortune and eventually jumped off a building!” “She was violated repeatedly and spent over a year in the hospital!” “I also heard she was kept by someone before!” “How shameless!” “No wonder she could do something like this!”
As I listened to these discussions, I felt frozen in place.

After that incident, Wang Ting found Jiang Yu. She looked at him, tears falling freely. “Jiang Yu, do you know why Xiao Mei didn’t tell you about all this? It’s because she didn’t want to distract you.”
“She hoped you would focus on your studies abroad, achieve great things, and have a bright future.”
“She didn’t want you to suffer alongside her, so she chose to bear it all alone.”
“But what about you? What have you done?”
