The news of the old man's tragic death at Lingqi Pavilion spread quickly. No one from the Serpent Clan dared to engage in Dual Cultivation with me anymore. My inability to advance in cultivation led the clan members to blame me for it. They beat me mercilessly, leaving my body bruised and battered. They lashed me with the Whip of Ten Thousand Snakes, a method that was particularly cruel; though the pain was excruciating, it left no visible scars.
The women of the clan specifically instructed not to kill me, as I would still be needed to produce Dragon Pearls in the future.
"Su Wan, are you the one behind this?"
I desperately tried to explain that I had done nothing wrong, but they refused to believe me.
"If it's not you, then who else could it be?"
They surrounded me tightly and drove a Soul Piercing Nail into my crown. The pain was so intense that I nearly fainted.
"Tell us, are you seeking revenge on us?"
The clan members glared at me with malice, as if they wanted to devour me alive. I gritted my teeth and vehemently denied it, "It wasn't me..."
"It really wasn't me..."
"Stop!"
The Clan Leader appeared, putting an end to this farce. He looked at me with concern before saying, "Su Wan, you mustn't engage in such actions."
I looked up at the Clan Leader, feeling as if there was a knife hidden in his gaze. I nodded slightly in response.
“Alright, let go of Su Wan. She won’t run away.”
“People of the Serpent Clan do not harm their own.”
Only then did the clan members step aside. Before leaving, they spat at me a few times, seemingly displeased that I had brought them trouble.
Soon, the night of the full moon arrived. Following the elder's instructions, I left a strand of hair beside Thousand Serpents' Lair. In an instant, I felt as if something within Thousand Serpents' Lair was establishing a connection with me.
Under the moonlight, it seemed as if something within Thousand Serpents' Lair came to life. Countless snakes writhed, and I felt as though there was serpent blood awakening within me. This sensation was peculiar yet terrifying.
Yet, I became even more convinced that the elder's words held profound meaning. I wanted to escape, but my Dragon Clan bloodline was sealed, preventing me from leaving the Serpent Clan's barrier.
I wandered around and found myself back at Lingqi Pavilion. At this point, a Serpent Soul Mirror had already been hung on the door of Lingqi Pavilion. I knew this Serpent Soul Mirror was meant to monitor me.
Although fewer snake people came to Lingqi Pavilion for Dual Cultivation, more and more of them came to abuse and humiliate me without restraint. My days grew increasingly difficult. I understood that they did not see me as one of their own; I was merely a tool for them to enhance their spiritual power.
They showed me no mercy, only caring whether I could still produce Dragon Pearls. After all, Dragon Pearls were valuable for enhancing one's cultivation. Originally, Lingqi Pavilion only catered to those of high cultivation levels. But now, the Lingqi Pavilion was filled during the day with my clansmen who came to humiliate me.
Under their abuse, I was growing thinner by the day. Yet, the spiritual energy in Lingqi Pavilion seemed to have increased significantly. I pleaded multiple times with the Clan Leader to let me go. But the Clan Leader merely sighed and said, "Su Wan, I know you are suffering."
"But our Serpent Clan is in dire straits; you must endure a little longer."
"Think of it as a sacrifice for the Serpent Clan." The Clan Leader was one of the few in the village who treated me somewhat kindly. Every time he brought me food, he would include some delicacies.
"Su Wan, please eat more," he urged. "Once they reach a sufficient level of cultivation, you will be able to leave here."
"We have no other choice; please don’t hold it against us." I nodded, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably. Yet deep down, I knew that I might be imprisoned here forever.
