After starting from scratch, Lin Yang brought Xiang Wei to his side. He said that Xiang Wei was just his sister and urged me not to overthink it. I believed him.
So, I allowed her to assist me temporarily with the company's affairs. But I never expected that Lin Yang would betray me alongside her. Even the employees of the company seemed to believe that Xiang Wei was the true mistress of Lin Family Group, while I was merely the one disrupting their relationship. They fawned over Xiang Wei and made things difficult for me.
My relationship with Lin Yang deteriorated rapidly. What crushed me even more was that Xiang Wei joined forces with Lin Yang to push my capable assistant, Qiang Wei, out of the company. After losing her job, Qiang Wei became disoriented and was struck by a car on her way home, never to wake up again.
After Qiang Wei's death, I wanted revenge. But Lin Yang confined me to my home. He said, "Zhou Qin, can you please stop causing trouble?" I laughed through my tears, "Causing trouble? What trouble have I caused?"
"Lin Yang, I've worked tirelessly for Lin Family Group over the years; if not for my contributions, at least for my hardships."
"Did Xiang Wei ask for my consent before dismissing my people?"
But Lin Yang replied, "I remember everything you've done for Lin Family Group."
"Xiang Wei is just a little naive; don't hold it against her."
I refused to accept this.
I was unwilling to accept it.
I ran out of my house and found Xiang Wei at the company.
She was sitting with several high-ranking executives, laughing and chatting, completely at ease.
And there I was, feeling like a joke that shouldn’t be told.
Xiang Wei frowned, "Sister-in-law, what are you doing here?"
The employees around her looked at me with cold eyes.
I glared at Xiang Wei, "You’re the one who drove Qiang Wei away, right?"
Xiang Wei feigned innocence, "Sister-in-law, how can you say that? Qiang Wei’s lack of ability is what led to her departure."
She turned to Lin Yang beside her, "Brother Yang, you have to stand up for me. I didn’t do anything."
I shouted angrily, "Xiang Wei, you’re talking nonsense!"
Lin Yang pulled Xiang Wei behind him and looked at me with a stern face, "Zhou Qin, have you had enough of this?"
"Qiang Wei's dismissal was deserved due to her own incompetence."
"Xiang Wei did nothing wrong."
I looked at him in disbelief, "Lin Yang, do you even know how many years Qiang Wei has been with me? Do you really not understand who she is?"
"You’re siding with someone who just joined a few months ago to push Qiang Wei out? You really don’t know how to judge character!"
Lin Yang grew impatient, "Zhou Qin, that’s enough!"
"Ever since Xiang Wei came to the company, you've made things difficult for her."
"And now that Qiang Wei has issues and resigned, you still blame it on her."
"Can’t you stop being so unreasonable?"
I pushed Lin Yang aside and grabbed Xiang Wei.
"I’m being unreasonable? Lin Yang, you don’t believe anything I say. You believe everything Xiang Wei says instead, right?"
Seeing me holding onto Xiang Wei, Lin Yang tried to pull her back, "Zhou Qin, let go of Xiang Wei!"
In the midst of our struggle, Xiang Wei fell and hit her head, losing consciousness on the spot.
In a fit of anger, he sent me directly to Mianbei, leaving me to fend for myself there. Lin Yang stiffened, his hand clenched tightly at his side.
In his memory, I had always loved and respected him; even when my heart was shattered by him, I would still throw myself into his arms without reservation at the sight of him. But now, standing before him, my eyes held no trace of emotion.
He furrowed his brow, thinking I was just speaking out of anger. “Zhou Qin, stop messing around.”
“You only have me as family now.”
“If you have grievances, you can take them out on me.”
“But Xiang Wei, you cannot touch.”
He knew I had no one else left, so he spoke without restraint. Yet I was no longer under his influence. I walked past him, limping slightly as I moved to the side.
“Zhou Qin, I’m talking to you!”
I ignored him completely.
