Once she calmed down, Rao Jie gradually found it hard to control her emotions. Just then, her phone vibrated.
She took it out and saw that it was a message from Wu Rong.
Wu Rong: "Do you know what's going on? Do you need me to come over? Is anyone bullying you? I regret coming to class; I can't concentrate at all. How about I let them study on their own and come find you instead?"

Rao Jie took a deep breath and said, "We started dating during the time we went abroad for the New Year."
Rao Gang nodded in understanding. However, Huang Xiang, who was sitting nearby drinking water, suddenly exploded with surprise. "What? Abroad? Where did you get the money to go abroad? Rao Jie, even if you're dating, you can't just spend his money! Have you been living off him this whole time? That's not right!"
Rao Jie glanced at her father and saw Rao Gang looking guilty, so she gritted her teeth and said, "I have a job; I've been working all along, so I have my own money."
"Pfft! Are you kidding? Does your part-time job even cover a trip abroad? By the way, you said you're living at Wu Xin's place; doesn't that mean you're basically cohabiting with her brother? Aren't all your expenses being paid by him? You'd better be careful; he might look down on you later because of this and abandon you."
Rao Jian chimed in sarcastically, clearly displeased with Rao Jie's new relationship. Huang Xiang echoed, "Exactly! What if you break up later? How would you explain that? What if he wants to settle accounts with you? That would be so embarrassing! And how can you even think about cohabiting now? It's too inappropriate; you're not even graduated yet! If you were both in different cities, that would be one thing, but you're both in the same city. Plus, it's not like there's no place to stay at home. If people find out about this, it'll be hard for you to marry someone else in the future."
If they were talking about someone else, Rao Jie might not have argued back because no other man gave her that kind of confidence. But since they were talking about Wu Rong, she felt a surge of courage at the thought of him. Remembering his words, Rao Jie might not have dared to respond in front of him, but she was willing to state a fact to her parents.
"We're dating with marriage in mind; our relationship is stable and will likely lead to marriage. So there's no need for you to speculate or worry."
Her family paused for a moment at Rao Jie's declaration but quickly dismissed it. After all, when girls say such things while in love, people often think it's just youthful impulsiveness and don't take it seriously.
Rao Jian scoffed, "I think you've been fooled by some sweet talk from a man. You're just daydreaming!"
Rao Gang clicked his tongue and said, "Alright, alright. If you're really that serious about it, Jie Jie, next time bring your boyfriend home for dinner so we can meet him."
Rao Jian immediately huffed in response. "And what about Young Master Hu? How do we explain that to our parents?"
Rao Jie remained silent.
Rao Gang added, "Your sister is now in a normal relationship; do you want to break them up and marry her off to someone else? Forget it; I'll talk to Lao Hu."
