If she is willing to marry, then so be it. If not, she is just a woman I played with; it’s nothing remarkable.
Hu Ze took the beer bottle that Rao Jian handed him and smiled slightly. "I don’t know anything."
"Of course, of course," Rao Jian replied with a grin.
Unable to contain his curiosity, Hu Ze asked, "She’s your biological sister, right? How can you treat her like this?"
Rao Jian immediately spoke with righteous indignation. "If she weren’t my sister, why would I care if she’s going down the wrong path? I wouldn’t bother with her at all. It’s precisely because she is my sister that when she ignores her family and runs off with some random guy, I have to step in and stop her. As her older brother, I have the right to educate her. Marrying you is her true happiness; I’m doing this for her own good."
Hu Ze questioned, "Won’t your parents be angry if they find out?"
Rao Jian laughed proudly. "Compared to Rao Jie, my parents trust me more. Besides, Rao Jie has no evidence!"
Rao Jian put on a façade of caring for his sister, but Hu Ze could see through his thoughts. He had previously boasted about getting married and had made quite a show at work, claiming he would rise through the ranks effortlessly. He had offended many people and bragged in front of others. To celebrate, he went gambling and lost a significant amount of money, even accruing debts that Hu Ze had to lend him money to cover.
They had initially agreed to become in-laws and let the financial matters slide, but now that the marriage couldn’t happen, he naturally had to repay the debts. Although his family could afford it, Rao Jian was unwilling to pay back any money; he would rather sacrifice Rao Jie than let his family spend a dime.
After all, the family's money would eventually belong to him. Every little advantage counted.
It was no surprise that someone like Rao Jian would resort to such tactics to achieve his goals. If things escalated, it would be their family’s affair, and he could still play the innocent victim.
Thus, Hu Ze didn’t care at all. He immediately started drinking in Rao Jian's room. By the time Hu Ze's parents called for him, he was already so intoxicated that he could barely think straight.
Rao Jian warmly welcomed Hu Ze to stay at his home, and Hu Ze's parents did not refuse. The Rao family was even more enthusiastic, so Hu Ze ended up living with them.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Rao Jie was cozying up with Wu Rong in the back seat of a car parked nearby. They were only hugging and cuddling; Rao Jie hadn’t crossed her boundaries yet and wasn’t ready for anything too intense.
Several times when Wu Rong couldn’t help but try to lift Rao Jie’s shirt, she gently kissed him to diffuse the situation.
"You’re really driving me crazy. Should we go back to my place or find a hotel nearby?" Wu Rong was so worn down that he no longer cared about his cleanliness obsession; he was at the point where he could settle for any hotel.
Rao Jie quickly pushed Wu Rong away, urging him to calm down. "No way! I've been out for so long; I need to go back."
Wu Rong, dissatisfied, hugged Rao Jie again, grinding his teeth in frustration. "This is so annoying. Just come with me. Don't go back."
"Stop being stubborn. Things at home are going pretty well lately, and I think it's time for you to meet my parents properly." With the atmosphere having improved, she hoped there wouldn’t be any arguments. She wanted Wu Rong to receive the courtesy and warmth he deserved.
"I just don’t see how this has anything to do with us living together. Why should they oppose it? Let’s just leave now; come stay with me." Wu Rong complained.
