He roughly shoved her into the passenger seat, and with a loud bang, the car door slammed shut.
"Is this the outcome just because I was a second late?" Yun Zhi Yue thought. Was this mask meant to let her spit it all out before swallowing it back?
What a peculiar childhood friend!
Nan Jing got into the car from the other side and started the engine, seemingly unaware of whose home they were heading to. The two families were neighbors, living in the same villa area, which explained their lifelong friendship. However, Nan Jing was a few years older than her; he graduated first and entered his family's company, and now he was already a domineering CEO.
As for her, after graduating from university, she had no desire to do anything. Her parents were worried about finding a suitable son-in-law since someone needed to manage their family business.
Unexpectedly, Nan Jing didn’t return home but took her to an apartment he occasionally used for rest. As he carried her out of the car, he couldn’t resist mocking her: "Your parents must be embarrassed today. Seeing you like this, you’ll definitely get scolded. You can sleep here for the night; I’ll make a call."
Yun Zhi Yue’s eyes lit up—sleeping here sounded great! Seizing the opportunity while Nan Jing was on the phone, she grabbed a white shirt from his wardrobe, stumbled into the bathroom, feeling the effects of the strong alcohol.
She quickly washed up and changed into her "battle attire," planning to put on a little shirt seduction act. Adjusting her mindset, she hypnotized herself into believing it was all for preserving the bowl of Meng Po Soup—a small sacrifice was nothing to worry about.
Summoning her courage, she opened the bathroom door only to find the bedroom empty. No matter; he must be in the living room.
With her fair thighs striding forward, she walked into the living room but still found no one! The men's shoes at the entrance were already gone—he had flown away.
"Hahaha! My mom is dying of laughter!"
The sound of her soul bursting into laughter made Yun Zhi Yue's face turn a mix of red and pale. It was only the first day; she shouldn’t have rushed things.
Forget it; she was tipsy anyway. Sleep first and deal with everything tomorrow. She collapsed onto the soft sofa, feeling drowsy from the alcohol, quickly drifting off to sleep.
More than twenty minutes later, the fingerprint verification lock beeped, and Nan Jing entered the room holding a hangover remedy.
The scene on the sofa was intoxicating, leaving him frozen in place. Whether it was due to drunkenness or just having bathed, Yun Zhi Yue's skin glowed with a rosy hue as she lay back on the black sofa, wearing only his shirt. The short shirt barely covered her lower body, and lying down exposed her long legs completely. Following her slender ankles upward, he noticed the black lace she wore.
Yun Zhi Yue had always been stunningly beautiful since childhood, but he had never thought much of it until now; today, he found it hard to look away. Her flat stomach and willow-like waist created alluring curves, and her slightly parted red lips were striking. Nan Jing took a deep breath.
He tossed the hangover remedy aside and went into the bedroom to grab a blanket to cover her, trying his best to avoid looking at her. Perhaps the blanket brushed against her skin, causing irritation; Yun Zhi Yue angrily pushed it away, inadvertently unbuttoning her shirt.
First it was her lower body, and now it was her upper body, as if she were afraid he wouldn’t get the full view. The same black fabric hugged her curves enticingly, deepening the color of Nan Jing’s gaze.
After covering her with the blanket, he stood in front of Yun Zhi Yue, staring at that familiar face he had seen grow up. The more he looked, the deeper his frown became.
The sound of a phone ringing startled Yun Zhi Yue awake. Groggily opening her eyes, she grabbed her phone only to realize it was already the next day. The caller ID displayed Zhou Yu, reminding her of the pressure from her failed marriage proposal.
As for the love triangle in this story—personally, I believe it exists. However, as mentioned in the synopsis, it revolves around a complicated relationship involving three people: the female lead, her ex-boyfriend, and the King of Hell. Although the female lead has no intention of looking back, there are still entanglements present.
With three vying for attention and plenty of rival scenes between them, those who prefer pure romance can step aside. This story is not about a strong female lead; she is not a naive character but rather someone with independent thoughts—so don’t approach it expecting a typical strong female narrative.
For those who have read my previous works, you know I never lack for intriguing plots—come join in!
