This is the first hurdle, yet for many men, it is simply unacceptable. Have you thought it through?
Wang Zhe felt a sense of relief. Yun Zhi Yue had mentioned beforehand that even if it was just a matter of managing things, it would be a significant step forward. Miss Yun had misunderstood; this was something many people could only dream of.
Yun Zhi Yue clapped her hands and said, "It seems this meal is going to be enjoyable. For our first meeting, you've passed my test. Whether or not we meet again is up to you. Now, let’s eat."
Wang Zhe relaxed and began to eat, occasionally glancing at Yun Zhi Yue. The dining table was unusually quiet.
"Nan Jing, I want to eat the bamboo shoots; you feed me. My hand hurts," Yun Zhi Yue said as she clung to Nan Jing's arm, looking adorably needy.
Nan Jing lowered his gaze and caught sight of the woman who seemed ready to dive into his embrace. He reached out to pick up some food and fed it to Yun Zhi Yue's mouth, cooperating quite well.
"Make sure to pick out the fish bones clean," she instructed. "And for the meat, make sure it's lean."
"Oh my, this is so salty! Let me have a sip of your wine," she added.
Zhou Yu watched with interest; this girl seemed intent on making things difficult for others while ensuring she could report back home successfully. He had never noticed before how clever she could be!
Seeing Wang Zhe's expression grow increasingly awkward, Yun Zhi Yue knew it was time for her final move.
"Oh dear, this wine has quite a kick! My face feels so hot. Nan Jing, can you feel it? Am I drunk?" She said as she leaned in and pressed her forehead against Nan Jing's, their breaths mingling, their lips almost touching.
Nan Jing dropped his chopsticks, his dark eyes meeting Yun Zhi Yue's gaze, a mist forming in his eyes.
[Ten percent success rate—good, good! I'm starting to feel something for you; keep it up.]
Her lively eyes sparkled with amusement; once the ice was broken, things would be much easier.
Just as she thought this, she was suddenly pushed back into her seat. "The person has left; next time don’t sit so close to me; your foundation is smudging on my face."
"Who’s using foundation? I was born with good skin! After all these years, I still can’t say nice things."
"You’re lucky to find a girlfriend; you two have been single for so long—why not just get together?"
Zhou Yu felt every cell in his body reject the idea. "Yun Zhi Yue, we agreed to move on! You can’t just decide I’m not good enough because you don’t like me. Just because I don’t have a girlfriend doesn’t mean I’m coming out."
"But you," Yun Zhi Yue replied brightly, "if you don’t want to go on blind dates, why not learn how to manage a company properly?"
Her eyes lit up at the thought. "That’s a great idea! If I become a strong woman, my mom won’t rush to find me someone to take over!"
"Let me come to your company and be your secretary. No salary needed; I’ll just be eye candy. A little unspoken rule wouldn’t hurt, right?"
Ignoring her teasing words, Nan Jing frowned and said, "If you really want to learn, then take it seriously. Managing a company isn’t that easy."
"Of course, I’ll work hard. I’ll report to you tomorrow. You’re the best, my childhood friend!"
Yun Zhi Yue hugged Nan Jing, pressing against her without any defenses.
Not only did Nan Jing herself notice, but even the observing Zhou Yu's expression changed slightly; something felt off. The two had always been close, but this seemed to cross a line.
Stopping just in time, Yun Zhi Yue released her embrace and got up, laughing and chatting as if everything was perfectly normal.
As for Nan Jing, she kept her thoughts to herself; no one could tell what was on her mind. Overall, the meal went smoothly aside from the brief awkward moment between them.
Zhou Yu was the first to say goodbye and leave.
Nan Jing had intended to leave as well, but seeing Yun Zhi Yue ’s dejected expression as she gazed at Zhou Yu’s retreating figure, she clicked her tongue and pulled her into her car.
