“Liuli, I want to go out for a walk. Will you take me?” Ma Tianshu said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Despite everything, she genuinely liked the “servant” that Xiao Shaojin had “carefully prepared” for her.
However, Ma Tianshu’s request left Fei Liuli in a difficult position. She clearly remembered receiving strict orders from Xiao Shaojin that Ma Tianshu was not to be allowed outside, fearing she might get kidnapped again like before.
Looking at the young lady before her, who was putting on a “If you don’t take me out, I’ll die right here” act, Fei Liuli felt a wave of helplessness wash over her. She thought to herself: Everyone should be napping right now; surely no one will notice.
Thus, the two figures cautiously slipped out the door.
“Liuli, this qipao is so beautiful! You would look stunning in it,” Ma Tianshu exclaimed.
“Liuli, do you think if we buy this for Brother Shao Jin, he’ll think it’s too girly?” she pondered aloud.
“Liuli…”
Ma Tianshu had always been the pampered young lady, protected and cherished by everyone. Wandering freely like this was something she had rarely experienced. Meanwhile, Fei Liuli trailed closely behind her like a startled bird, constantly on guard against the bustling crowd around them that might accidentally bump into Ma Tianshu.
“Liuli, can you go buy me some flower tea? I’m so thirsty,” Ma Tianshu requested.
“But…” Fei Liuli hesitated as she watched the young lady, even exhausted and panting, still wanting to rest in front of a small stall. She wondered if leaving her alone would be dangerous.
Noticing Fei Liuli’s concern, Ma Tianshu cheerfully patted her shoulder and reassured her, “Don’t worry! I’ll just sit here and look at these little trinkets. The teahouse isn’t too far away; if I can’t walk anymore, please do me a favor and buy me some.”
Seeing the adorable pleading expression on the girl’s face made Fei Liuli lose her temper instantly; she had no choice but to comply. Before leaving, she couldn’t help but remind her again, “Just stay here and don’t wander off. I’ll be back soon.”
As soon as Fei Liuli returned with the flower tea, she immediately regretted it because Ma Tianshu had vanished.
Just as tears were about to spill from her eyes in desperation, she suddenly heard a faint cry: "Liuli... help..."
Fei Liuli sprinted towards the weak voice with the speed of her life. When she reached the entrance of an alley, the sight before her made her eyes widen in anger. Inside, a group of men were preparing to assault Ma Tianshu.
Seeing Ma Tianshu in disarray, Fei Liuli's tone turned icy: "Let her go!"
"Let her go? What a joke! Who doesn't know she's the darling of Director Xiao's household? Our master has instructed us to 'entertain' her well," sneered the leader of the thugs, showing no fear as he leered and pinched Ma Tianshu's face. He then glanced dismissively at Fei Liuli. "I didn't expect this little girl to be so pretty; my brothers will have a good time 'entertaining' her first!"
The lackey beside him chimed in, "Yeah, our master has suffered quite a bit from that Xiao Shaojin guy; we need to let off some steam for him, hahaha..."
"Seeking death!" Fei Liuli silently roared, her figure darting like lightning as she instantly appeared beside Ma Tianshu. The thugs holding Ma Tianshu hadn’t even had time to wipe the smirks off their faces before she swiftly knocked them all to the ground. The leader stood there dumbfounded, watching as the figure that had just been in front of him seemed to split into two in the blink of an eye, his smile freezing on his face.
Fei Liuli gently pried Ma Tianshu's small hands away from her tightly clinging grip, took off her thin scarf, and tenderly draped it over her shoulders. She then wiped away the handprint left on Ma Tianshu's face from where someone had pressed down hard before quickly leading her out of the alley. In the air lingered a faint yet imposing warning: "No matter who your master is, tell him that if he values his life, he better not overestimate himself by touching anyone from Xiao Mansion."
Meanwhile, Xiao Shaojin, already in a foul mood for two reasons, completely exploded upon seeing Ma Tianshu enter disheveled and dirty.
"Tian Shu, what happened? How did you end up like this?" Xiao Shaojin ignored Fei Liuli standing nearby, which secretly relieved her.
"It's nothing! I ran into some bad guys on the street, but Liuli saved me... Shaojin, Liuli is amazing! You don't know how..." Ma Tianshu had completely forgotten about her earlier pain; with tears still fresh on her cheeks, she eagerly began to animatedly recount her thrilling encounter.
"Tian Shu!" A figure suddenly rushed over and enveloped her in an embrace without explanation. Ma Tianshu was startled; this voice was clearly not Shaojin's, yet it felt so familiar.
"Tian Shu, I miss you so much." The warm embrace and the magnetic voice could only belong to that scoundrel, Xu Jincheng. Ma Tianshu's small face fell instantly as she buried her head in tears, saying nothing.
"Tian Shu, I don't know what this scoundrel did to hurt you, but no matter what, he should at least give you an explanation." Xiao Shaojin looked at Ma Tianshu, who was quietly sobbing in Xu Jincheng's arms. His gaze darkened slightly as he clasped his hands behind his back and turned to leave.
As he passed by Fei Liuli, he muttered softly, "Study."
