Time seemed to stretch infinitely, each second dragging on unbearably. Drui Feng felt as if he were being consumed by the tedious wait.
He instinctively rubbed his elbow, where a faint itch lingered, as if tiny insects were crawling over his skin.
"Why is there still no movement?" Drui Feng couldn't help but mutter to himself. He had been crouching here for over three hours, and his eyes, strained from staring in one direction for so long, felt gritty and sore, as if sand were constantly rubbing against them.
"Shh!" Jiang Wenyu's expression was tense as he placed a finger to his lips, signaling for silence with a serious demeanor that suggested he was guarding a monumental secret.
"Everyone, quiet!" Yan Qing also gestured with his hand. His gaze was sharp and focused, like an eagle fixated on its prey.
At that moment, the camera slowly shifted to Jiang Ming's side.
In the dilapidated factory's eastern section, the air seemed to ripple suddenly, and three figures appeared out of thin air.
It was the same trio they had encountered yesterday. Walking in the center was a burly man whose muscles looked as if they were forged from steel; even in the dim light, the contours of his physique were evident. Each muscle radiated strength, and his eyes held a ruthless calmness born from years of experience in the underworld, resembling a beast ready to pounce on its prey. Flanking him on either side were Bamboo Pole and the Vampire.
Bamboo Pole was tall and slender, resembling a resilient bamboo stalk. He stood upright yet exuded an indescribable agility. His eyes sparkled with cunning, like a clever fox constantly observing the slightest movements around him.
The Vampire wore a distinctive vampire cosplay outfit that seemed tailor-made for him, fitting perfectly against his form.
His complexion was pale as snow, and his blood-red eyes glimmered with an eerie light in the darkness, resembling two burning rubies that emitted a chilling aura. Half of his face was concealed by a cloak, but when his lips occasionally revealed themselves, they curled into a slightly sinister smile.
It must be said that these three individuals had striking appearances; just standing there made them seem like characters straight out of a movie, exuding dramatic flair.
Yan Qing and the others took one look and firmly etched their facial features into memory.
Drui Feng paused for a moment. When he had watched the surveillance footage earlier, the images had been too blurry to make out anything but vague outlines. This was the first time he had seen the true faces of the three individuals so clearly.
He instinctively glanced at the cartoon representations of the three people that Jiang Ming had drawn yesterday, which were sitting on Yan Qing's desk, and couldn't help but admire them in his heart.
Jiang Ming's artistic skills were truly remarkable; the characters in the drawing were lifelike, with every detail handled perfectly, as if those three individuals had stepped straight out of reality into the artwork.
Speaking of that piece of paper, there was a little story behind it.
After finishing the drawing yesterday, Jiang Ming thought it was useless and was about to toss it into the trash when Yan Qing, quick on his feet, stopped him.
With a serious expression, Yan Qing placed the drawing on his own desk and said earnestly, "Let's keep it for reference." He then carefully tucked it into a folder on his desk.
Drui Feng clicked his tongue in appreciation and returned his gaze to the screen.
In the image, the burly man was the leader of their small group. He reached out and patted Bamboo Pole beside him, his deep voice carrying a hint of authority. "Zhu Ye Qing, why don't you go up first and talk to Hei Yu? If things go sideways, I can use my Psychic Ability to help us escape."
Zhu Ye Qing furrowed his brows tightly, a flicker of concern in his eyes. After hesitating for a moment, he said, "Big Brother, how about we just send the two of us first? Let Third Brother stay back to control the situation."
The burly man, referred to as Big Brother, nodded in agreement, his gaze reflecting approval for Zhu Ye Qing's suggestion. "Yeah, that makes sense."
Thus, without consulting the vampire's opinion at all, the two made their decision regarding their next course of action.
Only the vampire stared with wide red eyes, looking around in confusion. He shifted slightly; dressed in a vampire cosplay outfit, he poked half of his face out from under his cloak and spoke in a chilling voice. "Big Brother, Second Brother, let me go instead. You two have stronger Psychic Abilities than I do; your chances of escaping would be greater. Besides, it was you two who saved my life—let me take this risk."
"No!" Before the vampire could finish his sentence, Zhu Ye Qing and his elder brother each reached out a hand, encircling him like two iron hoops, their movements swift and decisive, leaving no room for refusal. Their eyes were filled with a fierce protectiveness.
From the video footage and the conversations among the group, it was clear that the man with the invisibility Psychic Ability was the robust figure in the center.
They had not been idle either; they had conducted thorough investigations into the archives of the Pacific Ability Federation over the years. It was revealed that these three Ability Users were part of a new gang that had recently gained notoriety in the Ability User World.
They had not caused significant harm or losses to humanity, which is why the Ability User Management Bureau typically refrained from imprisoning or detaining them, opting instead for verbal warnings. However, this situation was different; due to the severity of the incident, orders had been issued from above to detain them, and they would face trial and sentencing afterward.
The robust man was known as Lin Zhuang. He had initially been active in the Southeast Sea region, where the sea winds and waves seemed to bestow upon him a unique aura—fierce yet unruly. The man with the bamboo pole hailed from the Southwest, a mysterious land that nurtured his cleverness and wisdom.
As for the vampire, he was even more enigmatic—a European Ability User who somehow found himself in Huaxia territory, exuding an aura reminiscent of ancient European castles.
Before long, a stream of water appeared out of thin air before them. The water seemed alive as it began to slowly coalesce into human form. First, two feet gradually became clear, followed by legs, torso, arms, and finally, a head—each part revealing itself in succession.
The figure was that of a man; it was Hei Yu, whom they had encountered yesterday. He stood quietly within the flowing water, emanating an air of mystery as if he were one with the surrounding liquid.
The flow of water gradually ceased, as if time itself had momentarily halted. Hei Yu stepped forward with measured strides, each step resonating like mysterious notes in a melody that was difficult to grasp.
Wearing a mask that served as a barrier between his face and the outside world, only his deep and cold eyes were visible—like stars glimmering in a frigid night sky, radiating an enigmatic chill.
He stood in a shadowy corner where darkness enveloped him like an enormous black cloak. Zhu Ye Qing, Lin Zhuang, and the vampire could barely discern his face; they could only feel the intangible pressure emanating from him.
