He carefully placed the remaining Lap Cheong into a sealed bag, preparing to send it for inspection. Just then, the doorbell rang again. Xu Rong peered through the peephole and felt a chill run down his spine—Chen Ming was standing outside, wearing the same eerie smile as last night. 0

"Mr. Xu, I came to ask if you are satisfied with our Lap Cheong?" Chen Ming's voice came through the door, sweet and unsettling. "I personally selected this... premium ingredient." 0

Xu Rong held his breath, afraid to make any sound. He heard Chen Ming humming a tune outside, his footsteps gradually fading away. Once he was sure Chen Ming had left, Xu Rong collapsed onto the floor, his back soaked with cold sweat. 0

Trembling, he opened his computer and searched for information on Chen Ming. A news article popped up: "Serial Killer Still at Large; Police Warn Lone Dwellers to Stay Safe." The accompanying image was a blurry surveillance snapshot, but Xu Rong recognized that familiar figure immediately—Chen Ming. 0

The article mentioned that the killer specifically targeted Lone Dwellers, and victims had parts of their organs removed. The police suspected the killer had a peculiar fetish and might be turning the victims' organs into some sort of "artwork." 0

Xu Rong felt dizzy as he recalled how Chen Ming had asked everyone at dinner last night if they lived alone. At the time, he thought it was just small talk; now it was clear that he was selecting prey. 0

He grabbed his phone to call the police but found that it had lost signal without him noticing. At that moment, he heard a faint noise coming from the balcony. Xu Rong held his breath and slowly approached the balcony. 0

Through the gap in the curtains, he saw Chen Ming standing there, holding a sharp scalpel, still wearing that chilling smile. 0

"Mr. Xu," Chen Ming said softly, "do you know? The human intestine is the most delicious part, especially when it's... fresh." 0

Xu Rong abruptly pulled the curtains shut and turned to run towards the door. 0

But the doorknob did not budge—the door was locked from the inside. He heard the sound of glass shattering behind him; Chen Ming had already broken in through the window. 0

"Don't run away," Chen Ming's voice grew closer. "Your intestines... will surely be delicious." 0

Xu Rong grabbed a package from the coffee table and hurled it at Chen Ming with all his might. The package arced through the air, spilling its contents—seasoning packets—across the floor. 0

Chen Ming stumbled slightly from the sudden attack but quickly regained his footing. At that moment, Xu Rong noticed a glass bottle among the scattered seasoning packets, filled with a red liquid. Without thinking, he seized the bottle and threw it at Chen Ming. 0

The glass bottle spun through the air, splattering red liquid everywhere. Chen Ming instinctively raised his hand to shield himself, but the liquid splashed onto his arm, instantly producing white smoke and a hissing sound. 0

"Ah!" Chen Ming let out a scream as the scalpel fell from his hand onto the ground. 0

Xu Rong then realized that the red liquid was actually chili oil. Taking advantage of Chen Ming's pain as he clutched his arm, Xu Rong dashed into the kitchen and grabbed a chef's knife. 0

When he turned around, he found that Chen Ming had regained his composure, though his smile was now even more twisted. 0

"Interesting," Chen Ming licked his lips. "I prefer prey that fights back." 0

Xu Rong tightened his grip on the knife, forcing himself to stay calm. He knew that he could only rely on himself now. The kitchen was small; perhaps this would be to his advantage. 0
