Xu Luode instinctively swung the Bone Blade, cleaving the monster in two.
But to his horror, the two halves of the body continued to writhe, attempting to reassemble themselves.
More Meat Cocoons began to rupture, and various horrifying experimental subjects crawled out. Some had fish gills and scales, others were covered in feathers, and still others resembled octopuses with numerous Tentacles. They emitted a cacophony of strange cries as they surrounded Xu Rong.
Xu Luode turned to run, but after only a few steps, he collided with a Flesh Wall. The wall was covered in pulsating veins, and countless Human Faces writhed upon it. Some of the Human Faces were crying, some were laughing, and others were screaming.
"Welcome Home..."
Countless voices echoed simultaneously.
Xu Luode felt a splitting headache as his consciousness began to blur. He saw his arm becoming transparent, glowing patterns emerging on his skin. Those patterns writhed like living creatures, gradually spreading across his body.
Suddenly, the ground began to tremble violently.
Xu Luode watched as a massive Tumor in the center of the cave slowly split open, revealing a vast Cavity within. Floating inside was an indescribable creature—it had the outline of a human but was entirely covered in glowing patterns. Its head lacked facial features, possessing only a gigantic circular maw surrounded by countless Compound Eyes.
The most terrifying aspect was its constantly shifting form; it would sprout wings one moment and extend Tentacles the next, resembling a fusion of countless beings.
"At last, we meet..."
The creature spoke in a chorus of many voices, "My child..."
Xu Luode felt his consciousness being forcibly drawn into a vortex. He saw countless fragments of memories flash before him—images of his wife crying in the laboratory, Chen Ming laughing maniacally, and countless others suffering in agony during experiments.
Suddenly, a fragment of memory caught his attention. It was an image of his wife before her death, but it was completely different from what he remembered. He saw her standing in front of a massive Cultivation Pod, inside which floated a baby...
"That is you..." The voice of the Mother Body echoed in his mind. "You are our most perfect Masterpiece..."
Xu Luode felt as if the world was spinning around him. He finally understood why his genes were so special, why he could awaken so easily. Because he was not an ordinary person; he was the earliest successful experiment of the club.
"Join us..." The Mother Body extended its Tentacles. "Become a part of perfection..."
Xu Luode felt his genes begin to go berserk within him. His body mutated uncontrollably; the Bone Blade became sharper, and his skin turned translucent, revealing glowing patterns similar to those of the Mother Body.
At that moment, he heard his wife's voice: "Xu Rong, remember who you are!"
That voice was like a bucket of cold water splashed over Xu Luode, waking him up. He bit down hard on his tongue, using the pain to stay alert. Looking down at the device in his hand, he realized it was the Sonic Wave generator that Doctor Lin had given him.
"Useless..." the Mother Body said. "That thing can't hurt me..."
Xu Luode forced a grim smile. "I know. But this thing can..."
He pressed the Red Button on the device, and a blinding blue light flashed. This was not an ordinary Sonic Wave generator; it was a miniature nuclear fusion device. Doctor Lin had anticipated that this day would come.
"You’re insane!"
For the first time, Mother Body showed fear. "You will die too!"
"Maybe," Xu Luode replied, "but at least I can stop you."
The blue light grew brighter, and the entire cave began to collapse.
Xu Luode took one last look at Mother Body and pressed the detonation button.
Xu Rong felt herself falling.
