Erin's figure vanished into the darkness of the Scrap Iron District, leaving Chen Rui standing alone in the silent night. The blood on his hands had not yet dried, and a chill of battle intent rose within him. He understood that to establish himself in the Tenth District, he needed more than just brute force; he required ample resources and allies. Erin was merely the beginning. 0

Returning to his residence, Chen Rui carefully reviewed the documents he had just obtained. These papers recorded the movements of several key factions within the Special Zone, as well as details of some mysterious transactions. Each transaction seemed related to a certain Biological Enhancement Experiment, involving staggering amounts of money, and the term "Experiment Subject" appeared repeatedly. Chen Rui's gaze fixed on this line, a sense of foreboding settling in his heart. It seemed that the Tenth District was far more treacherous than he had imagined; the Old Forces were not only unfathomable but also delved into inhumane experimental methods. 0

"Biological enhancement," he murmured to himself, realizing the immense value of this information. It also meant that he was teetering on the edge of a storm; one misstep could lead to his ruin. After securing the documents, Chen Rui decided to contact a few survival experts he had heard about, hoping to gather more information and support within the Special Zone. 0

The next day, Chen Rui walked along the main street of the Special Zone. The sides of the street were lined with low buildings and crowded alleys filled with illegal vendors and merchants selling contraband goods. The air was thick with a mix of decay and tobacco smoke. The midday sun was blinding, illuminating everything except for the dark corners of the street. 0

He entered an inconspicuous, dilapidated bookstore, which was also where Erin had informed him about a lead. The shopkeeper was an elderly man with graying hair and sharp eyes that glinted like blades. Upon seeing Chen Rui enter, the old man squinted and asked, "Young man, here to buy a book?" 0

Chen Rui observed the store's layout while replying, "Not here for books; I'm looking for someone. I heard San Shu could help with introductions." 0

At the mention of San Shu's name, the old man's expression shifted slightly, revealing a hint of caution. Not everyone could invoke that name. 0

"Is this enough?" Chen Rui directly placed a stack of cash on the counter, his tone steady. 0

The old man glanced at the money and smiled faintly. After accepting it, he gestured for Chen Rui to follow him to the back of the bookstore. Pushing open a hidden door, he led him into a dimly lit room where flickering candlelight illuminated an old sofa and a dusty computer haphazardly placed aside. 0

Moments later, a man in his forties emerged from within—a lean figure with piercing eyes. He scrutinized Chen Rui before asking, "Erin sent you?" 0

Chen Rui nodded without elaborating. 0

San Shu seemed somewhat satisfied as he leaned against the sofa and said coldly, "In this place called Tenth District, provoking anyone can lead to trouble. If you want to find allies here, you'll need to prove you can bring us benefits." 0

"I need information and support," Chen Rui replied calmly. "In exchange, I can provide some insights and resources from Erin's side." 0

San Shu smiled slightly. "You're quite direct. Erin is always cautious; how much information can you provide?" 0

Chen Rui took out a slip of paper detailing data regarding Experiment Subjects from his previous documents. Upon seeing it, San Shu's expression changed slightly; he appeared very interested in this data. 0

"This document comes from deep within our organization and relates to recent transactions," Chen Rui said slowly. "As long as you're willing to cooperate, I have much more information like this." 0

San Shu pondered for a moment before nodding. "Alright, I accept your sincerity. However, there's something you need to know: recently there have been suspicions of an insider among us; investigations are ongoing. If you want to understand what's happening, you'll need to be even more cautious." 0

Chen Rui felt a slight jolt at this revelation; it meant his future actions would be even more perilous. Yet he remained undeterred, contemplating how to delve deeper into their organization. 0

San Shu seemed to appreciate Chen Rui's calm demeanor and continued, "Given that situation, I can introduce you to someone—an information broker here who specializes in sensitive transactions; we call him Ghost. If you have enough leverage, he can help you uncover many secrets." 0

Chen Rui nodded firmly. "I need to meet him as soon as possible." 0
