At seven in the evening, the class group chat for the senior year (Class Six) was unusually lively. 0

"Did you hear Lu Laoda is coming back?" 0
"Really?" 0
"Yes, yes, I think I heard that too. Supposedly he’ll be back next week." 0
"It’s been a while since we last saw Lu Laoda." 0
"Jiang Han, is this true? Jiang Han?" 0

In the past, Jiang Han and Lu Jingzhi had the best relationship in class, so any questions about Lu Jingzhi were sure to be answered by Jiang Han. After a while, Jiang Han finally replied, "It's true, Lao Lu is coming back next week." 0

"Really? That's great! When Lu Laoda is back, we should get together!" 0
"Where's Lu Laoda? Why isn't he chiming in?" 0

Meanwhile, the mentioned Lu Laoda was drinking with someone else. "Hey, Jing Zhi, are you really going back?" The tone of the speaker suggested they clearly didn’t want Lu Jingzhi to leave. 0

Lu Jingzhi clinked his glass with the person next to him and said, "Yeah, it’s time to go back." He tilted his head back and finished the remaining drink in his glass. In the dim light, a drop of liquor trickled down his chin, tracing over his slightly stubbled jawline and rolling down his throat. The scene was strikingly vivid, yet the man seemed oblivious to it. 0

Having stayed here after graduation for quite some time now—three years—it was indeed time to return. 0

"Come on, Lao Lu, you have to drink more tonight. Who knows when we’ll get to drink together again?" 0
"Right, don’t even think about going back sober tonight." 0

"I’ll keep you company," he added. Lu Jingzhi smirked slightly, holding a cigarette in his left hand as he lounged on the sofa, appearing relaxed and somewhat indifferent. In front of familiar faces, he let his guard down; such a laid-back version of Lu Jingzhi would likely make any woman swoon. 0

"You know it’s great here; whenever we have time, we can always meet up," someone remarked wistfully. 0

"I can’t help it; my mom is pushing me hard. My phone is about to explode from her calls. If I don’t go back soon, my dad might just come over himself to drag me back." Given how much his father doted on his mother, he didn’t dare upset her. 0

"Well, it’s not like these two cities are far apart—just a little over three hours by car." The person seemed to realize they couldn’t sway Lu Jingzhi’s decision and stopped pressing further. 0

By the time Lu Jingzhi returned to his place after the gathering, it was already eleven at night. Feeling slightly tipsy, he lay back on the sofa with a furrowed brow and closed eyes, seemingly uncomfortable from drinking too much. 0

Feeling his phone vibrate in his pocket, Lu Jingzhi finally opened his eyes. His peach blossom eyes appeared even brighter and deeper than usual, carrying a hint of daze. 0

He answered the call and held the phone to his ear while using his left hand to gently massage his temples as if trying to alleviate the discomfort from the alcohol. 0

Uncertain of what was being said on the other end of the line, he responded softly, his voice hoarse and lazy. 0

Yeah, next week. 0
