Her nose was clear, her head no longer felt heavy, and the symptoms in her throat had eased significantly. She couldn't help but feel grateful for listening to the doctor; what did it matter if the injection hurt a bit? It was effective, and that was what mattered.
After tidying herself up, Sang Yu decided to go out for breakfast. She had woken up a little late today, and making millet porridge at home would take too much time. Eating at a breakfast shop would allow her to grab something quickly. Now that she was feeling better, her appetite had returned, and one bowl of millet porridge was no longer enough to satisfy her hunger.
After finishing a bowl of millet porridge and a vegetable bun, Sang Yu felt much more comfortable. It was as if she had come back to life. Once she finished her meal, she made her way to the clinic for a follow-up injection, contributing her backside for the cause. Yesterday's shot had been in her left cheek; today it would be in the right—fair and square.
"Cheers!" Lin Yue raised her glass and clinked it against Sang Yu's.
Sang Yu sat at the bar, feeling uneasy. She had the constant sensation that if she moved even slightly, her skirt would ride up and expose her backside. She found herself tugging at the hem of her short skirt on both sides to prevent any unwanted exposure.
"Yue Yue, is this skirt a bit too short?" Sang Yu leaned closer to Lin Yue's ear and whispered, glancing around nervously. She felt as though someone was watching her; indeed, bars could be dangerous places. Oh, how she missed home.
They say a woman's intuition is sharp, and Sang Yu was right—there were indeed quite a few people stealing glances at her. Her outfit was certainly eye-catching.
"Short? Look at what everyone else is wearing! Their skirts are much shorter than yours! You're just being too conservative," Lin Yue replied. "This skirt barely reaches mid-thigh; have you seen how some people wear theirs? Half their buttocks are showing!"
"And Sang Sang," Lin Yue continued, "do you have any idea how beautiful you look in this outfit? Even I, a straight woman, am almost swayed! You should definitely try out different styles more often. Just look at your wardrobe—it's all good-girl attire."
"But I'm just an elementary school language teacher! If I don't wear good-girl clothes, what should I wear? Wouldn't that set a bad example?" Sang Yu protested.
"Yue Yue, maybe we should just leave?" she suggested anxiously, feeling an overwhelming sense of unease as if there were hidden dangers lurking around every corner.
She was an exemplary teacher; how could she be in a place like this? Goodness, she must have lost her mind to agree to come here with Lin Yue.
In Sang Yu's eyes, everyone who came to bars seemed questionable. If her parents found out she was in such a place, she imagined they would break her legs.
"We just got here! Don't be scared, Sang Sang! I'm here with you; what are you afraid of?!" Lin Yue reassured her. It was pitiful that Sang Sang had never been to a bar in over ten years of life; how could that be allowed? As a friend, Lin Yue felt it was essential to show her the world!
"I appreciate it! But I really don’t need it! Besides, it's because of you that I'm scared; you're so unreliable!" Sang Yu retorted.
"Come on, Sang Sang! Try this drink—it’s special! It's the bar's signature cocktail made from their bartender's secret recipe; you can't find it anywhere else!" Lin Yue insisted as she handed a glass from the table to Sang Yu.
Sang Yu wasn't much of a drinker; she only indulged in beer occasionally during the summer.
But looking at the drink in front of her, which was a light blue on top, a soft pink in the middle, and white at the bottom, with a misty gradient where the colors blended, she couldn't help but be captivated by its beauty. It was simply stunning.
Sang Yu couldn't resist the temptation and took a sip. As the refreshing liquid touched her lips, her eyes lit up. Hmm? This is delicious! She wanted more!
