"Do you only have a headache?" Lin Yue asked with concern, chasing after Sang Yu. Her eyes darted around, inspecting Sang Yu from head to toe, not even missing her toes. She particularly focused on her neck, seemingly trying to find any signs of something untoward.
Seeing that there were no marks or anything resembling a hickey, Lin Yue finally felt a bit relieved after worrying all night.
"Could I be in pain somewhere else?" Sang Yu sat back on the sofa and closed her eyes. Although she felt much better after taking a shower, her head still throbbed uncomfortably.
For instance, did her body feel like it had been run over by a truck? Though she had never experienced it firsthand, she had read enough novels to know that this was often how it was described: after a night of intense battle between the male and female leads, the next morning the female lead would feel as if she had been crushed by a truck, unable to get out of bed due to her weak legs.
Lin Yue assessed her friend; she seemed fine walking around and didn’t look like she was struggling to stand.
"Why would I be in pain? Why would it feel like I was hit by a truck?" Sang Yu looked at Lin Yue in confusion.
"Uh, heh heh, it's nothing. As long as you're not in pain, that's good. That way my conscience won't hurt as much," Lin Yue thought to herself.
At that moment, Sang Yu seemed to realize something and gritted her teeth. "Lin Yue! Is your imagination just too wild?"
Lin Yue replied, "Can you blame me? With how Lu Jingzhi acted yesterday, it looked like he wanted to devour you whole! Just thinking about what happened last night makes me furious."
"Sang Sang," she continued passionately, "I can't help but think more about it. If you saw how Lu Jingzhi was last night, you'd understand why I’m concerned. You have no idea how that dog of a man suddenly charged over and dragged you away! He looked so fierce; honestly, I was a bit scared."
However, this didn’t quell her anger, especially towards his friends. If it weren’t for them, she wouldn’t have let Lu Jingzhi take away her dear Sang Sang. Lin Yue stood up and animatedly recounted the scene from last night.
"Wait!" Sang Yu suddenly lay back on the sofa with her eyes closed but then opened them wide and sat up straight, staring at Lin Yue. "Are you saying I was dragged away by Lu Jingzhi?"
"Yes," Lin Yue thought for a moment and nodded to confirm.
"Wasn't I the one clinging to him?" Sang Yu asked for clarification.
"No," Lin Yue shook her head.
At that moment, Sang Yu sat on the sofa while Lin Yue stood in an animated pose. They locked eyes in silence, with only their breathing filling the air.
Seeing her friend's furious expression, Lin Yue tentatively asked, "Sang Sang, are you implying that Lu Jingzhi told you that you were the one clinging to him?"
However, Lin Yue felt she didn’t need an answer anymore; her friend's expression said it all.
"Damn! That dog of a man really knows how to turn things around!" Lin Yue fumed.
"Shameless! Absolutely shameless! I've never met anyone so shameless in my life!" She stomped her foot in anger. "I've never seen someone so devoid of shame before."
It was clear he had dragged her away; she couldn't believe how fast he moved when he suddenly stormed over and pulled Sang Yu along. She had chased after them but couldn't catch up at all.
And then there were his friends—Lin Yue was infuriated by Lu Jingzhi's companions. It was true what they said: birds of a feather flock together. They were just as shameless as he was!
They even blocked me from chasing after you! Otherwise, I would have gone to rescue you myself!
Lin Yue felt increasingly frustrated as she recalled how she had been cornered by Lu Jingzhi's obnoxious friend last night. It was a humiliation that she, Lin Yue, would never forget, a stain on her reputation that she could hardly bear.
Sang Yu watched her friend, who seemed even angrier than herself, and quietly poured a glass of water for Lin Yue. "Yue Yue, here, drink some water. It will help cool you down."
Lin Yue took the cup from Sang Yu's hands and gulped down the water. After all that talking, she realized she was quite thirsty.
