"Why won't you let me wear makeup?" Sang Yu's stubbornness flared up as she fixed her gaze on Lu Jingzhi, determined to get an answer.
Lu Jingzhi turned his face away awkwardly, looking towards the front of the car. He said somewhat uncomfortably, "It's just that you're too beautiful, so I don't want you to wear any."
Sang Yu was taken aback by this response; her previously aggrieved expression transformed into one of surprise. So that's why?
Seeing the faint blush creeping up Lu Jingzhi's ears, Sang Yu felt a bit convinced and couldn't help but smile. She had never seen him like this before; he usually carried himself with an air of nonchalance, as if nothing mattered to him.
Clearing his throat awkwardly to break the silence, Lu Jingzhi asked, "What do you want to eat?"
After thinking for a moment, Sang Yu tentatively suggested, "Hot pot?"
"You really like hot pot that much?" Lu Jingzhi raised an eyebrow. The last time they met, she and Lin Yue had also eaten hot pot together.
"Yes, yes! I think most girls love hot pot," Sang Yu replied enthusiastically. She wasn't sure about others, but she and Lin Yue absolutely adored it. Out of ten meals they had together, at least eight were hot pot.
"Then let's go for hot pot. A friend of mine opened a hot pot restaurant not long ago; the food is quite good. I'll take you to try it." In fact, this restaurant was opened by Lu Jingzhi's childhood friend, An Yu. He had been there when it first opened and thought the food was pretty decent.
"Okay," Sang Yu nodded absentmindedly. Wasn't he worried about running into his friend?
"What's wrong? Don't want to go?" Lu Jingzhi noticed Sang Yu seemed less enthusiastic.
"Uh, no," Sang Yu shook her head.
"Trust me, I'm quite picky about food, and it's really good." Lu Jingzhi thought Sang Yu didn't believe him.
Sang Yu looked at him and smiled. "Alright then, let's go try it."
Lu Jingzhi's heart raced; this was the first time Sang Yu smiled at him like that—it was truly sweet!
The hot pot restaurant was a bit far from Sang Yu's home; it took them over half an hour to drive there. Perhaps due to it being Saturday, there were many diners. When they arrived, the parking lot in front of the restaurant was full. Lu Jingzhi had no choice but to drop Sang Yu off at the entrance before going to find a parking spot.
Sang Yu observed the restaurant; it was quite large, and through the windows, she could see that most of the tables were nearly full. It seemed business was thriving.
"Let's go," Lu Jingzhi said as he parked and walked over.
Once they entered and looked around, it appeared that there were no available seats in the main hall.
At that moment, a man in a suit approached them. "Lu! Hello! I'm the manager of this restaurant."
The manager recognized Lu Jingzhi; he had met him when the restaurant opened because he was a good friend of the owner. He remembered the faces of those who came with him back then.
"Hello, Xu Store Manager. Could you please help me find a private room? Lu Jingzhi is also acquainted with this manager; when we came here for a meal, An Yu introduced them."
"Sure, Lu. Right this way."
Lu Jingzhi first helped Sang Yu take off her down jacket and hung it on the wall, then pulled out a chair for her to sit down. Only after that did he start to remove his own coat and take a seat. The store manager then kindly brewed a pot of tea. "Lu, here's the QR code. You can scan it to order."
"Okay, I got it. Xu Store Manager, you can go ahead and attend to your other duties. I'll call you if I need anything."
"Alright." After Xu Store Manager left, he thoughtfully closed the door behind him.
Lu Jingzhi took out his phone and scanned the QR code on the table, then handed the phone to Sang Yu to see what she wanted to eat. Sang Yu received the phone and began to scroll through the options seriously.
