She was planning to take a shower before going to bed, but since Lu Jingzhi wasn't leaving, she felt awkward about it. She just wanted to find an excuse to make him go, but who knew he would be so unpredictable? Sang Yu usually went to bed around eleven, and it was only eight o'clock now; there was no way she could fall asleep, so she tossed and turned in bed.
"If you can't sleep, we can do something meaningful," Sang Yu suggested as she shifted closer to him, her earlier irritation quickly fading away.
"Meaningful?" Sang Yu murmured with a hint of confusion, clearly not understanding what Lu Jingzhi meant.
"Yes, like when I suddenly turn over and end up on top of you," Lu Jingzhi replied playfully.
At that moment, Sang Yu's heart raced as she instantly understood what he meant by "meaningful." She pushed him away and sat up. "Well, since I can't sleep anyway, maybe I should think hard about what we could do."
Lu Jingzhi relaxed on the bed, watching his girlfriend deep in thought. He hadn't intended for anything to happen; he was just teasing her.
"Right! Let's watch a movie! An old one would be great!" Sang Yu finally exclaimed, remembering what they could do together.
"Okay then, let's watch a movie," Lu Jingzhi said as he got up from the bed and helped Sang Yu clear the space. They simply moved the coffee table aside to make room for them to sit on the carpet.
"Do you have anything in mind?" Sang Yu turned to ask Lu Jingzhi.
"I’m fine with anything; you pick something you like. Just not a horror movie," he added mentally.
From their last experience with old movies, Sang Yu knew that Lu Jingzhi was afraid of horror films, so she chose a comedy by Shen Uncle.
The two of them settled onto the soft carpet. Since the house had underfloor heating, the carpet felt warm. Lu Jingzhi wrapped his arms around Sang Yu.
"Could you not hold me so tightly? It's freezing outside, but inside it feels like summer! Your body is like a furnace," Sang Yu complained as she felt herself starting to sweat.
"I’m not even hot!" Lu Jingzhi replied playfully.
"No way! This is your fault."
After a while, Sang Yu really couldn't take it anymore. When she went to change into something more comfortable, she realized she had been wearing summer pajamas at home. She only switched to long sleeves now and decided not to worry about it too much.
Lu Jingzhi was even hotter than Sang Yu; he just didn't want to let go of her. Luckily, he was wearing a tank top under his shirt. When Sang Yu changed clothes, he took off his shirt and was left in just the tank top. He actually considered taking off his dress pants for some thermal underwear but decided against it, fearing that Sang Yu might not take it well.
When Sang Yu came out of the bathroom and saw Lu Jingzhi in just his tank top, her steps faltered for a moment before she pretended not to notice and sat down next to him.
"Thank goodness! At least you're still wearing your pants properly," she said with relief.
Sang Yu had already seen this movie once before, but it was still funny watching it again. Lu Jingzhi had become much more restrained and didn’t make any moves on her this time.
"I'm afraid I'll get myself into trouble!" he joked.
It was already past midnight when Sang Yu fell asleep, having dozed off while watching a movie. Lu Jingzhi carefully lifted Sang Yu and placed her on the bed, holding her close in his embrace before finally drifting off to sleep himself.
Outside, the cold wind howled, and the snow continued to fall. In the dimly lit room, the two nestled together in bed had already entered the realm of dreams.
