Sang Yu's mouth was stuffed full of fried dough sticks, which Lu Jingzhi had bought and were quite delicious. The soy milk was also tasty, and he had even specifically asked for it to be sweetened for her.
She didn't usually like soy milk much, but since she had a sweet tooth, she found the sweetened version quite enjoyable.
Lu Jingzhi glanced sideways at his girlfriend, who was eating with great enthusiasm, feeling a bit aggrieved that she hadn’t asked him whether he had eaten breakfast.
"Cough, cough, cough."
"Are you coming down with a cold?" Sang Yu finally lifted her head from her meal to check on her boyfriend.
"I'm not sick; I'm just hungry. I want to eat fried dough sticks too." His tone sounded somewhat pitiful.
"Uh, you didn’t have breakfast?" Sang Yu was surprised; she thought he had eaten before bringing her food.
"Nope," he replied, still sounding aggrieved.
"I'm sorry; I thought you had already eaten," Sang Yu said, feeling a bit embarrassed. She had only gotten one cup of soy milk and assumed he had finished his meal before bringing her food.
"But you’re driving; how can you eat? Why don’t you pull over first, have your breakfast, and then we can set off? It’s still pretty early; having breakfast won’t take much time."
"No need; just feed me," Lu Jingzhi said nonchalantly, though inside he was quite nervous as he secretly watched Sang Yu, fearing she might refuse his request.
"Feed you?" Sang Yu hesitated for a moment, uncertain if it was too intimate. She felt a bit conflicted about it.
Seeing that she was about to refuse, Lu Jingzhi quickly interjected, "If you don’t want to, that’s fine. It’s just an hour; I can wait until later to eat."
"Well, um... maybe I should feed you."
"Really? Bao'er, you’re so wonderful! I knew you cared about me," Lu Jingzhi exclaimed in surprise when Sang Yu actually agreed. He had expected her shy nature would lead her to insist on stopping the car first. He felt secretly pleased that his little scheme had worked.
Watching Lu Jingzhi's happy expression, Sang Yu swallowed back what she wanted to say. She understood his intentions perfectly; she wasn't naive enough not to notice that. But it didn’t matter; they were already in a relationship and had done more intimate things together before. Feeding him wasn’t a big deal.
Sang Yu looked at the long fried dough stick in her hand and thought that letting Lu Jingzhi eat while driving might be a bit dangerous. After considering it for a moment, she tore off small pieces of the dough stick and fed them to him. Occasionally her fingers brushed against his lips, making her feel a little shy.
Suddenly, for some reason, Lu Jingzhi playfully sucked on her finger as she offered it to him. Startled, Sang Yu quickly withdrew her hand and shot him an annoyed glare.
Lu Jingzhi seemed oblivious as he continued driving calmly until he noticed Sang Yu staring at him and turned to ask, "What’s wrong?"
Seeing that he appeared completely unaffected made Sang Yu think that perhaps she was overreacting; maybe it was just an accident after all. "It’s nothing," she said as she shook her head.
One could only say that this girl was still too innocent.
Lu Jingzhi kept an eye on Sang Yu's expression and realized from her lack of anger that he had successfully dodged the bullet this time.
At the same time, he thought to himself that his girlfriend was a bit too easy to deceive, and he would have to keep a close eye on her in the future to prevent others from taking advantage of her. Today, there was no traffic on the road, and the two of them arrived after driving for an hour as planned.
