Pushing a small cart, Lu Jingzhi walked alongside Sang Yu, who was linked to his arm, making it clear to anyone that they were a couple in love. "Is there anything you want to eat?" they stopped at the meat section, and Sang Yu looked down at the meat in the freezer while asking Lu Jingzhi.
"How about some shrimp? We can make some sautéed prawns, and let's get some chicken wings to make Coca-Cola Chicken Wings." The two dishes Lu Jingzhi suggested were both Sang Yu's favorites.
Sang Yu shot him a playful glance. "I asked if you have anything you want to eat?"
"I'm not picky; I'll eat whatever you choose." He had no particular demands when it came to food; as long as he was full, he was satisfied.
Sang Yu nodded. Lu Jingzhi was indeed quite easygoing in this regard. "Alright, let's go with what you said, and we'll stir-fry some greens and prepare a cold dish."
Lu Jingzhi agreed without any objections; he would follow whatever his girlfriend wanted.
After they finished shopping for the ingredients they needed for the day, they picked up some snacks that Sang Yu loved. Having visited Sang Yu's house a few times, Lu Jingzhi knew she had a habit of snacking. He grabbed a few bags of snacks he had seen at her place before and reminded her, "You should eat snacks in moderation; it's better to have more meals."
His girlfriend was a bit on the slender side, her waist so thin that he felt he could easily break it with one hand.
"I don't eat that much," Sang Yu retorted. "I eat on time; I just like to snack while binge-watching shows at night." (Everyone understands—she didn't want her mouth to be idle.)
As they approached the household goods section, Sang Yu wanted to send Lu Jingzhi off. "Can you go over there and pick out a cup for me? My thermos is broken." In reality, she did need a new cup; as a teacher, she drank a lot of water, and the lid on her thermos wouldn't tighten anymore, causing it to leak.
"What kind do you like?" Lu Jingzhi asked, wrapping his arm around Sang Yu's shoulders as he started toward the shelf with bedding.
"Just go pick one out yourself; I'll come over in a bit."
He was going by himself? Lu Jingzhi looked down at Sang Yu and noticed her gaze flickering away. Then he caught sight of the feminine products on the nearby shelf and suddenly understood.
"Oh!"
His girlfriend was shy!
They had been together for several months now; aside from not having engaged in intimate activities, they had done everything else together. How could she still be so bashful?
Never mind; he decided not to tease her anymore. If she got embarrassed, he'd be the one to soothe her afterward.
"Alright then, I'll go pick out a cup." Lu Jingzhi carefully left the cart with Sang Yu. Once he was sent off, she let out a sigh of relief. Her period was due any day now, and she had run out of supplies at home. So she needed to buy some today. Even though they were about to get engaged, she really couldn't bring herself to grab sanitary pads in front of Lu Jingzhi without blushing.
Sang Yu quickly grabbed two packs of her usual brand and tucked them at the bottom of the cart where they wouldn't be visible before heading over to find Lu Jingzhi.
"What do you think of this?" Lu Jingzhi held up the cup he had chosen when he saw Sang Yu approaching.
He had picked out a medium-sized cream-colored thermos—just right for Sang Yu. The cup featured an adorable gray kitten tilting its head with a cute expression on its face, accompanied by the words: "So cute!"
Sang Yu instantly fell in love with it. "It's beautiful! Let's get this one."
Seeing her delight, Lu Jingzhi ruffled Sang Yu's hair affectionately. He knew she would like it.
As they approached the checkout counter, Sang Yu hurriedly placed the items from the cart onto the counter before Lu Jingzhi could do so. Lu Jingzhi seemed to see through Sang Yu's little scheme and didn't compete with her; instead, he stood aside, waiting to pay.
Seeing Lu Jingzhi standing there obediently without offering to help, Sang Yu let out a sigh of relief.
