At nine o'clock, a meeting was held in the school's auditorium, and all the teachers were required to attend. At eight forty, Sang Yu stood up with the other teachers from the office and headed towards the auditorium.
"Sang Sang, doesn’t Zheng Yifan look like a proud peacock? Just look at her chin, it's almost pointing to the sky," Yu Guoguo whispered to Sang Yu as they followed Zheng Yifan, who was walking ahead.
Sang Yu tugged at Yu Guoguo's sleeve. "Stop talking, be careful she hears you and comes looking for trouble."
Yu Guoguo pouted. "Is she really that scary? But I know if that fierce woman hears me, it will definitely lead to another war filled with smoke and gunpowder." She didn’t want to engage in a battle of words, so she turned to Sang Yu and started sharing some amusing stories from their recent break.
Sang Yu and Yu Guoguo found a secluded corner to sit down. The meeting was mostly the same old discussions they had every semester before school started—summarizing past shortcomings and looking forward to a bright future. The principal kept talking without pause, and by the end, Sang Yu was nearly dozing off.
A round of enthusiastic applause woke Sang Yu up. She blinked her bleary eyes open and checked her phone; it was already noon, and the meeting had finally concluded.
Feeling groggy, Sang Yu followed Yu Guoguo out of the auditorium with the crowd. It wasn’t until she breathed in the fresh air outside that she felt fully awake.
Yu Guoguo stretched lazily. "Ah! This feels great! I'm alive again!" Then she playfully threw her arm around Sang Yu's shoulders. "Come on, Sang Sang, I’ll treat you to a meal to thank you for bringing me those snacks!"
"Treat me? Well then, I won’t hold back; I want a feast!"
Yu Guoguo slapped her chest confidently, perhaps a bit too hard, causing her ample bosom to jiggle. "No problem! Just tell me what you want! I’ll make sure you eat your fill!" She promised Sang Yu grandly.
Sang Yu unabashedly replied, "Sea cucumber, abalone, bear paws," counting off on her fingers until she reached ten dishes before stopping. "And how about some dragon meat from the sky?"
"I think that’s not out of the question," Yu Guoguo laughed.
"Ha! Sang Xiaoyu, you really know how to order! Not out of the question? Why don’t you just fly up there yourself? You’d have to sell me for a fortune!"
In the end, they decided on hot pot because when it comes to what girls like to eat—besides hot pot—it’s still hot pot. Well, maybe there’s also spicy skewers.
After dinner, Sang Yu left for school since she had responsibilities as a homeroom teacher in the afternoon.
Yu Guoguo was just a subject teacher and could head home directly. "Poor Teacher Sang! I’m off to enjoy my freedom first. Bye-bye!"
"Just hurry up and go," Sang Yu replied.
The next day marked the start of school again. Sang Yu arrived early at school. Although it had been several days since spring began, the temperature hadn’t risen much; riding her electric bike was still quite cold. So, she wore a thick down jacket, looking like a little panda.
Actually, Lu Jingzhi had mentioned wanting to buy her a bike before, but Sang Yu had firmly refused.
At that time, they had only recently gotten together and their future was still uncertain. Sang Yu didn’t want to accept such an expensive gift from Lu Jingzhi, even though she knew that amount of money was trivial for him.
Opening the classroom door, Sang Yu sat at her desk waiting for her students to arrive.
After the meeting yesterday afternoon, she cleaned the classroom thoroughly.
Before long, the students began to trickle in one after another, and by eight o'clock, everyone was present.
Having not seen them for a whole vacation, she realized she missed these little ones quite a bit.
"How was everyone's holiday? Now that we've entered a new year, we've all grown a year older. Have we become more sensible?"
"Yes!" the students replied in unison.
