"Hey, look at your guy. Is he acting silly?" Lin Yue whispered to Sang Yu.
From the moment Lu Jingzhi laid eyes on Sang Yu today, he had been grinning like a fool, glancing at her one moment and then looking away the next. Lin Yue found Lu Jingzhi's behavior hard to watch. However, this might also indicate that Lu Jingzhi had truly fallen for Sang Yu. Thinking about this made Lin Yue find this version of Lu Jingzhi somewhat endearing.
"You’re the cute one! Your whole family is cute!" Lu Jingzhi exclaimed.
He was a robust man filled with masculine energy! How could anyone describe him as cute?
Sang Yu glanced at Lu Jingzhi helplessly. She too had noticed how silly he was acting today; he was completely different from his usual self.
Since the engagement was decided suddenly and the timeline was tight, Lu Jingzhi hadn’t had the chance to visit Sang's grandpa and Sang's grandmother in the countryside yet.
Today was the first time for Sang's grandpa and Uncle Sang to meet Lu Jingzhi. At first glance, they thought this young man looked quite impressive. They were a bit worried that he might not be reliable, but once they saw him smile with that goofy charm, their concerns eased significantly. He seemed like an honest guy, and they felt that their Sang Yu would be well taken care of in the future.
Little did Lu Jingzhi know that he was being seen as a simple-minded honest lad by the Sang family.
"This young man seems alright, quite down-to-earth," Sang's grandmother whispered to Sang's grandpa.
"Yes, our Sang Yu has good taste; she should find someone like him—honest and straightforward—rather than those slick types," Sang's grandpa replied, turning to Sang Xia. "Xia Xia, you should look for someone like your brother-in-law in the future. A boy who is down-to-earth means a girl won’t get taken advantage of."
Sang Xia nearly spat out her tea at that moment. Goodness, did she hear that right? Lu Jingzhi—down-to-earth? Hahaha! Where on earth did her grandpa see that quality in him? It was simply hilarious!
If Lu Jingzhi was considered down-to-earth, what would happen to those truly simple-minded guys?
Sang's grandpa watched his granddaughter laughing uncontrollably and felt puzzled. Did he say something funny? Why was Xia Xia laughing so hard? He gave her a light smack on the back and whispered sternly, "Behave yourself! Today there are so many people around; you can't embarrass our Sang Yu!"
He glanced around; most of the men were dressed in suits. Well, aside from the men in their own family, everyone else looked like what one might call business elites!
Here he was, an old man who had spent his life farming, sitting among them—he felt a bit out of place. Sang's grandpa nervously tugged at the Tang suit his daughter-in-law bought for him and straightened his back. He needed to maintain his dignity!
"Grandpa, why do I feel like you’re a bit nervous?"
"Nonsense! What would I be nervous about? Do you think I haven’t seen my fair share of storms at my age? Am I afraid of these people?" Sang's grandpa secretly wiped the sweat from his palms onto his clothes.
Sang's grandmother heard her husband’s words and rolled her eyes in disdain. Just last night, she didn’t know who it was that couldn’t sleep and kept tossing and turning in bed.
"Exactly! Not nervous at all! Even though Lu Uncle is the richest man in Yun Cheng, he’s just like us—two eyes and one nose—and his attitude is just fine."
