After Lu Jingzhi and Sang Yu completed their engagement ceremony, the two began to toast at each table. Sang Yu rubbed her slightly stiff smile, thinking about how exhausting this was; how tiring would the wedding day be? At that moment, she even entertained the thought of eloping instead. 0

"Sweetheart, what's wrong? Are you tired?" Lu Jingzhi noticed Sang Yu seemed a bit distracted and asked with concern. 0

"Yeah, my feet hurt," Sang Yu replied, feeling as if her heels were definitely blistered. The pain had been sharp just moments ago. 0

The main issue was that she rarely wore high heels; even when she did, they were usually lower and chunkier. After a day spent in these slender, towering heels, Sang Yu was truly struggling. 0

Lu Jingzhi glanced at the seven or eight-centimeter heels and frowned slightly, feeling a pang of guilt. He knew Sang Yu seldom wore high heels and realized he hadn’t paid attention when the designer provided such tall shoes. It was his fault. 0

He wrapped an arm around Sang Yu's waist, encouraging her to lean against him for support. "Just lean on me a bit more; we only have two more tables to go." 0

Sang Yu gently pushed him away. "It's fine, I can hold on. If you let go, people will see." They were in the middle of toasting, surrounded by family and other guests. 0

"Alright, just hang in there a little longer," Lu Jingzhi said, acknowledging her point and reluctantly releasing his hold on her. 0

After finishing the toasts, Lu Jingzhi immediately took Sang Yu back to the lounge. He knelt down and carefully removed her shoes. 0

"Ah!" Sang Yu gasped as he slipped off her shoe; it hurt so much. 0

Seeing the red, swollen area above her heel where the skin had been rubbed raw made Lu Jingzhi's heart ache. He gently blew on the wound to ease her pain. 0

Feeling a bit embarrassed by his attentiveness, Sang Yu tried to pull her foot away from him. "Don’t move," Lu Jingzhi said softly but firmly. "Do you not realize your foot is injured? Stop fidgeting." 0

Sang Yu turned her head away, unable to meet his gaze, even though they had already shared intimate moments together. 0

Lu Jingzhi removed her other shoe as well and noticed that foot was also damaged—worse than the first one. He opened the medical kit that had been brought earlier. "I’ll put some medicine on it; it might sting a little, so bear with me." 0

He was particularly gentle with his movements and occasionally blew on the wound to soothe her discomfort. 0

Watching him treat her foot as if it were a precious treasure made Sang Yu’s eyes well up with tears. She had never imagined this day would come; there was a time when she thought they would never cross paths again. 0

"There we go," Lu Jingzhi said after applying iodine and placing a band-aid over the wound. But when he looked up, he saw that Sang Yu’s eyes were red. "Why are you crying, sweetheart? Did I hurt you?" he asked worriedly. 0

Sang Yu shook her head quickly, afraid that speaking would make her cry more. Instead, she hugged his waist tightly. At that moment, she felt an overwhelming sense of happiness that seemed almost unreal. 0

"Don't cry now; it won't hurt soon," Lu Jingzhi said softly as he stroked her hair, thinking she was crying because of the pain in her feet. 0

Sang Yu silently smiled in his embrace; she wasn’t that delicate at all. 0

A knock sounded at the door. 0

Lu Zong, this is the pair of shoes you requested. Chen Assistant walked in, carrying a shoebox in his hands. 0
