The other guests had left, leaving only the Sang family behind.
"Grandpa and Grandma, thank you for making the trip," Lu Mu said warmly as he pulled Sang's grandmother into conversation.
"It's no trouble at all; it's not hard to visit our own granddaughter," Sang's grandmother thought to herself, feeling a sense of warmth. She could tell the sincerity from Lu Mu and Lu Fu; Xia Xia was right. Although the Lu family was wealthy, they didn't look down on the Sang family at all. Seeing the attitude of Lu Fu and Lu Mu, her earlier worries melted away.
"You two must come again when they get married; we need you both to be there!"
"Of course, we will definitely come," Sang's grandmother replied with a broad smile.
"Grandpa, Grandma, I'm really sorry. We should have visited you sooner, but time was tight. Sang Sang and I will come to see you in the countryside soon."
"Haha, it’s alright. Grandma doesn’t blame you; I understand how busy young people are," she said, recalling what her second son had mentioned about the sudden engagement, so she didn’t hold it against Lu Jingzhi.
"Grandma, you and Grandpa should stay in the city for a while."
Sang's grandmother quickly shook her head. "I can't stay here; we’ll be with your Uncle San. I can't bear being in the city without anyone to chat with; it would drive me crazy."
Sang Yu looked at his grandmother’s aversion to city life and couldn’t help but chuckle. If someone didn’t know better, they might think she was suffering in the city.
"Isn't it suffering? Being cooped up at home every day is just like being in prison!" Sang's grandmother exclaimed.
"Kid, you better treat my granddaughter well and not bully her!"
"Don’t worry, Grandpa. I will definitely make sure Sang Sang never feels wronged."
Sang's grandpa grunted in response, his expression neutral, but he felt quite satisfied inside.
" Sang's grandmother: That old man is still putting on airs!"
"Just take care of yourselves."
Sang Yu felt a sudden tightness in his throat and an urge to cry for some reason.
Ignoring the pleas from Sang's father and Sang's monther to stay longer, they followed Uncle Sang back home from the hotel.
Sang Yu collapsed onto the sofa as soon as they got home. "Ugh, I'm exhausted!"
Lu Jingzhi sat down beside him and placed Sang Yu's feet on his lap, gently massaging them. This made Sang Yu feel a bit shy.
"You don’t have to massage me."
"Sweetheart, you’ll have to get used to this; I might be giving you massages often in the future."
Sang Yu smiled shyly.
She felt that the massage Lu Jingzhi mentioned was somewhat inappropriate.
"Darling, we're about to get married. You need to relax and not be so tense and reserved. We're going to be the closest people to each other in the future."
She understood her own issues and knew she would try to change gradually.
"Darling, when are you moving over here? I want to start living the life of a husband and father as soon as possible," Lu Jingzhi said. Although they didn't have children yet, he believed that once they were married, children would come in due time.
There were still three months until the wedding. Yes, they had discussed the wedding date before their engagement: February 2nd on the Gregorian Calendar and the eighth day of the fourth month on the Lunar Calendar—both auspicious dates. The year 2020 also held significance, and this date was the earliest option they had considered. Lu Jingzhi insisted on this day, so their wedding was set.
Sang Yu thought about how her rent would expire in a month. She decided not to terminate her lease just yet; she should give her landlord some time to find a new tenant. Next month would be fine, as her lease was up at the end of this month.
With just one month left, Lu Jingzhi nodded in agreement, not opposing her decision. Even though she hadn’t moved out yet, it wouldn’t stop him from spending time at her place, and he could stay at hers too. After all, they couldn’t live apart.
Sang Yu was completely unaware of Lu Jingzhi's thoughts and was surprised by his words this time.
"Sang Sang, get up!"
