"Yue Yue, are you okay?" Sang Yu looked at Lin Yue with concern.
Lin Yue shook her head, then changed the subject. "But Sang Xiaoyu, you've really grown bold, haven't you? You actually slapped someone!" The moment she saw Sang Yu hit someone, Lin Yue was stunned. Is this really the Sang Xiaoyu I know?
"Of course! Who told her to bully my friend?" Sang Yu replied with a proud expression, making Lin Yue feel both amused and touched. She knew this was a sign of friendship and care.
"What about you and Sheng Yan'an? Haven't contacted him yet?" Sang Yu asked, having been busy lately and not checking in on Lin Yue for several days.
"He came to see me once, saying he's almost finished with everything." Speaking of this, Lin Yue felt much better. She recalled that day when Sheng Yan'an had blocked her at the company. He had lost quite a bit of weight during this time. He had held her tightly in his arms, not letting her go, expressing his longing for her. She had cried out of grievance; these days had been tough for her too. He also mentioned that things were nearly resolved and asked her to wait a few more days.
"Almost resolved? Looks like Sheng Yi is quite reliable after all."
"Enough about him. Let's go shopping! We can't let that woman ruin our mood."
The two women wandered through the entire mall until it was dark outside.
"Sang Xiaoyu, I can't anymore! My legs are about to give out!" Lin Yue sat down on a bench in the mall, exhausted. She loved shopping, but this was just too long.
Sang Yu was equally worn out. "Shouldn't we take a break and shop over two days instead?"
"Are you done shopping today?" Lin Yue looked up at the sky wearily.
"Not yet," Sang Yu shook her head. "There’s still plenty left to buy. Tomorrow will probably take another whole day."
"Then what's the point? You won't finish everything in one day anyway."
Sang Yu slapped her forehead in frustration. "I'm so tired I'm losing my mind!"
"Let's go eat something; it's getting late." Sang Yu glanced at her phone; it was already past seven in the evening.
Lin Yue looked at her hands and then at Sang Yu's hands, which were already full. "We should put our things in the car first."
"Right, let’s put them in the car. They probably won’t let us in with all these bags."
"Your car is already full; let’s put these in mine."
"Okay! You’re staying at my place tonight, and we can continue shopping tomorrow."
"Sounds good," Sang Yu said, having driven here today. A few days ago, Lu Jingzhi had bought Sang Yu a car for over three hundred thousand yuan. Originally, Lu Jingzhi wanted to buy her a car worth over a million, but Sang Yu firmly refused, thinking a car around two hundred thousand would be enough. However, Lu Jingzhi wouldn’t budge; three hundred thousand was his bottom line, so they ended up with this one.
"Sang Xiaoyu, if it weren't for your wedding, I definitely wouldn't be shopping with you."
"If it weren't for my wedding, I would have been home by now," Sang Yu replied, carrying several heavy shopping bags with a look of exasperation.
The two of them trudged along, their hands marked from the strain. "Sang Xiaoyu, if you don’t treat me to something to eat today, we’re done for!"
"Eat whatever you want, just order anything," Sang Yu replied, trying to sound bold and spirited, but his voice was weak. He was both exhausted and hungry; just managing to speak felt like an achievement.
"Phew! I feel alive again!" Lin Yue exclaimed after wolfing down food for a while.
"I’m sorry, Yue Yue. I’ll drink first as a toast!" Sang Yu lifted his drink and downed it in one go.
"Hmph! You think I don’t know you’re just thirsty!"
People are like iron; meals are like steel—missing one makes you uneasy. Indeed, the wisdom of the ancestors holds true. Lin Yue patted her slightly protruding belly, realizing she had overeaten once again.
Lu Jingzhi had moved out from Sang Yu’s place a few days ago. With the wedding approaching, he was incredibly busy, so Sang Yu had simply let him go.
The two of them had registered their marriage on Sang Yu's birthday. Now, Lu Jingzhi and Sang Yu stood at the entrance of the civil affairs bureau, each holding a red booklet.
"From now on, we’re officially certified!" Lu Jingzhi said excitedly.
