“Pei Xiuping, you made it hard for me to find you.” A woman’s voice suddenly rang out, filled with a mix of sorrow and arrogance.
With a loud “bang,” the door was pushed open by a gust of wind, and a woman dressed in red walked in.
Ling Xin was terrified and quickly crouched in the water, her hands tightly covering herself to prevent anyone from seeing her.
“Qin Xiaolian?” Pei Xiuping looked at the newcomer, his eyes instantly filled with rage as he gritted his teeth and spat out her name.
“I never expected you to escape this time. Does that mean we are destined to be together?”
A strange smile crept onto Qin Xiaolian's lips as she spoke slowly, “Xiuping, I’m here to take you back.”
“Forget it!” Pei Xiuping firmly rejected her.
“Do you really think you have the option to refuse?” As Qin Xiaolian spoke, she slowly approached him, her hand gently resting on his shoulder. “Can you smell that? Isn’t it fragrant?”
Pei Xiuping’s expression changed dramatically. “You… again!” He looked down at Ling Xin in his arms; she had already fainted. Pei Xiuping’s face turned sinister as he shouted angrily, “Get the antidote!”
“Don’t worry, this poison is different from last time. You won’t die; you’ll just be too weak to resist. I thought you were one of Blood Shadow’s people and wanted to kill you, but since you’re not, we can still be together.”
As Qin Xiaolian explained, she pulled out another vial from her cloak. “As for this one, it will ensure that this dead girl is reduced to nothing…”
Pei Xiuping shouted in horror, “Qin Xiaolian!”
Just as Qin Xiaolian was about to step forward, her feet suddenly felt as if they were nailed to the ground. Her face turned pale as she stared wide-eyed at the girl who had just laughed softly ahead of her. “You’re not unconscious?”
“With your little skills in poisoning, do you really think you can challenge me?” Ling Xin said with a smug smile on her lips. She didn’t even need to go out and ask; she was known as the Divine Physician of Fengcheng County!
She had loved herbs since childhood, experimenting on her own when no one was around, and she had long become immune to all poisons.
This woman was quite foolish; she was so focused on Pei Xiuping that she failed to notice that he had also been poisoned.
Ling Xin grinned and asked, “Now can you tell me who you are?”

Pei Xiuping stood there in a daze for a while before reluctantly replying, "Fine, I will pay you back with interest."
With that settled, Ling Xin became energized. She immediately shooed everyone away and pointed at Qin Xiaolian, saying, "You and him will have to wait until I get my money back to discuss things. Now please go home."
Qin Xiaolian ignored her and glanced back at Pei Xiuping, her eyes filled with reluctance. "Pei Xiuping, you'd better think carefully about whether you want me or the dead one!"
Pei Xiuping's gaze darkened as he coldly spat out a single word: "Leave!"
As soon as Qin Xiaolian was gone, Ling Xin couldn't hold back any longer and urged Pei Xiuping to go get the money. "I warn you, two thousand taels—every single penny must be accounted for."
When it came to outrageous demands, no one in Fengcheng County could outdo her.
Pei Xiuping simply smiled indulgently. "If you want it, come with me to collect it; otherwise, I'm not going anywhere."
He was worried that if Qin Xiaolian returned, it might put Ling Xin in a difficult position.
Ling Xin rolled her eyes at him, thinking that he knew full well she had no resistance against handsome men yet still pushed her into the fire! How wicked!
