Gabriel gritted his teeth and said with resentment, "Do I have a grudge against him? Why is he only chasing after me?"
Witnessing the continuous slaughter of his subordinates, with molten blood splattering across his face, oddly enough, brought him a moment of calm.

Gabriel slowly awakened in a forest, his head heavy and his body feeling as if it had been shattered. Every joint throbbed with piercing pain.
He struggled to rise but found himself too weak to even lift an arm, lying helplessly in the grass.
Everything around him felt strange and dangerous. Towering, dense trees obscured the sky, casting shadows that made the forest dim and filled with a damp, decaying odor.
Thick layers of fallen leaves piled up on the ground, emitting a pungent smell that mixed with the scent of his still-drying blood, creating an overwhelming atmosphere in the silent woods.
At this moment, he was incredibly weak; the injuries from battle had yet to heal, and his magical power was nearly depleted. His frailty left him almost defenseless, forcing him to hide and evade.
However, perhaps due to misfortune turning into fortune, his weakness drew little attention from the world's consciousness towards this barely alive little demon, giving him a fleeting chance to catch his breath.
Yet, the blood seeping from Gabriel attracted a group of uninvited guests. Rustling sounds emerged from the underbrush, followed by pairs of eerie green eyes flickering in the darkness.
"These beasts, which I once rejected when offered as food, now dare to threaten my life!"
"Truly, the world is unpredictable."
The beasts, agile and fierce, circled around Gabriel, their eyes gleaming with a savage light. They moved slowly, emitting low growls as they assessed their prey.
Despite Gabriel's serious injuries, he still exuded an aura of power that kept the beasts at bay; they dared not approach too closely.
"Roar!"
The scent of blood from Gabriel was too enticing for the beasts to resist. The creature before them was clearly weakened.
Seizing the opportunity to take his life!
A few of the beasts prepared to charge forward.
With a sharp whoosh, an arrow struck the ground among them, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Accompanied by the piercing sound of the arrow slicing through the air, a figure emerged swiftly from the trees. It was a burly man clad in heavy leather armor, its studs glinting coldly in the light. He held a sturdy bow tightly in his hands and had a quiver slung over his back.
"You beasts better leave now, or I won't hold back," the man's voice was deep and powerful, echoing through the stillness of the forest.
As he spoke, he quickly nocked several arrows onto his bowstring in one fluid motion, drawing it back until it resembled a full moon.
The beasts were momentarily stunned by this sudden display of intimidation. The ones that had been eager to pounce now halted in their tracks, watching the man warily.
However, they were not willing to give up their meal so easily. They crouched low, growling threateningly from their throats as they faced off against the man.
"Well! Not convinced?"
The burly man narrowed his eyes at the sight and decisively released the bowstring.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh," several arrows shot through the air like lightning, landing precisely in front of the beasts, their shafts deeply embedded in the ground, the fletchings still quivering slightly.
The intimidation from these arrows finally instilled fear in the beasts. They let out a few reluctant roars before swiftly turning and disappearing into the darkness of the forest.
Gabriel lay on the ground, watching this scene unfold. Initially, he felt a surge of relief at having survived, but soon he became wary again.
He was a demon, and this man had saved him. He didn't know whether the man was friend or foe, nor what his intentions were. Summoning the last remnants of his strength, he propped himself up and fixed his gaze on the burly man, ready to respond to any potential changes.
The burly man looked at Gabriel, furrowing his brow slightly as he asked, "What happened to you? You're covered in wounds and have attracted so many beasts."
"If I hadn't noticed in time, you would have been eaten by them!"
Gabriel had burned most of his flesh and blood, leaving only a sliver of energy that allowed him to maintain a human form, as the burly man did not suspect otherwise.
Seeing Gabriel remain silent and somewhat on guard, the burly man shook his head helplessly and hoisted Gabriel onto his shoulder.
"Come on, I'll take you back to my place. We can help you with your wounds there."
